can't imagine that either.

If it is a draw then 2-2 or even 3-3.
As far as I remember Germany did have some trouble in their second pre round game throughout the last WCs/ECs (?) not 100% sure though - yet, I thought (my bad) that the USA would be their second game NOT Ghana - obv. that's where my brain did make the (faulty!) connection, that Germany might loose to the US.

It is going to be very exciting!
Right now I am more hopeing than I am actually convinced - that germany will be able to grind out a win.

Bradley as Ginola against Bulgaria in 94 Laughing
The worst choice possible, in last minute. And harmful.
Fantastic group . If Germany and USA tie , Portugal is out . But it will be a real match , there is not danger to see a new Germany-Austria 1982 who Algerians will remind well Proud

They are obviously going with the big name but let's be honest, that "assist" was a stunner, the header not so much.

Talking about ronaldo I have some sympathy for him. First game played most of it with a red card against a far better team. Second game shows a flash of genius to create a goal whilst playing through an injury problem. Whilst his team is having a total shocker for fvck sake, when you add all those things up I can't be bothered criticizing him.

Its hilarious to me people are giving him a pass.... when you know damn well that if Messi was in the same situation he would be given barrells loads of abuse and labelled national team flop etc etc.

Hell Messi got more abuse for getting knocked out of the quarter finals under a clueless manager than Ronaldo is getting right now.

Plus that flash of brilliance is the first good thing he's done in 180 minutes, its not good enough.

people made fun of people who credited messi with assits in the world cup.. now all of a sudden assists are the new goals in the game xD

The dude is playing with tendonitis......

If it was Messi? Oh please, save that stuff. No one veven talks about Messi flopping anymore because he has the 'right' coach and he is finally scoring goals.

What about the 2010 WC with Greece, S.Korea and Nigeria in the Group? He was getting criticized for his performances against those teams.
What about Copa 2011?

But lets just skip that.....

This Portugal team stinks and everyone knew it. Their only chance was Ronaldo playing out of his mind and the injury has clearly hampered it.

That's a perfect example of what our great leader said. Messi in those tournaments actually played great, a million times better than he has done so far at this WC. But because he never scored, he apparently flopped, even though he assisted some goals..

Post by Motogp69 Mon Jun 23, 2014 2:07 am

First the venting:

I hate you Omar Gonzalez. That sub has to be Mix or Brooks. Gonzalez is a joke. That goal is on Jurgen. Bradley gave away the ball to easily, but they had time to set up the defense given how high up the ball was lost. Gonzalez was brought in to lock up the final third and defend the aerial ball, he was 15 yards away from the box jogging when Ronaldo played the ball in. You have to bring in Mix or Brooks there, instead you put an immobile defender and give him a free defending role. Such an idiotic move by Jurgen.

That said, hard to see us not advancing given the tie breakers, but we would have been in very good position to win the group with a draw and an easy opponent in Russia or Algeria instead of a difficult game with Belgium.

Now the scenarios (assuming a loss to Germany since we advance with a draw):

(1) If Portugal beats Ghana, the U.S. and Portugal tie for second. The U.S. is favored, although not guaranteed, to advance based on goal differential because the U.S. has a 4 goal cushion.

(2) If Ghana beats Portugal, the U.S. and Ghana tie for second. The next tie breaker is goal differential in which the U.S. has a 1 goal cushion. The next tiebreaker after that is goals scored which the U.S. leads by 1. The next tiebreaker is goal differential in head to head which the US would win.

(3) If Portugal draws Ghana, the U.S. finishes in sole possession of second place and advances.

It's an accumulation of things for me. He's not fit, his team is in the hardest group, his team are playing absolutely terribly, first of the two games they had a man sent off against the groups strongest team. At this point, its time to hold your hands up and admit everything has gone against him here.
