Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Art, that Reus is going to us is nothing more than wild, baseless speculation, which by the way also does not come from German media.
Of course B-Mac is right that with a release clause of 35m next year there will be many suitors. As in, everyone lol.
Still doesn't mean he'll leave.

5 million going to 7 million is quite an increase being his childhood club too I don't think he'd mind that. I honestly think he's probably losing faith off Dortmund, they lost Kagawa, Sahin, Gotze, Lewy in the past 3-4 years. Hummels is now being targeted by many clubs as well (not long before he leaves), perhaps if he does want out its to due to getting with a bigger team and with Bayern ripping them apart in the league by 20+ points the last two season, I'd say he's looking for something better.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Well, Mats Hummels has been targeted by bigger clubs for about 3 years now, IIRC. And if he really wants to go for trophies, except for Bayern he probably won't get any guarantees in the bigger leagues either. And with Bayern he can never be guaranteed to play, considering the quality of players in their squad - and if you look at Mario Götze's progress or lack there of, I'm not so sure it is generally such a good idea to move there.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
I can totally see Bayern going for Reus, they ain't letting a world class player go somewhere else for €35m, atleast with Reus they'll get a bit more likeable.
Real Madrid, Barcelona are not an option, I can see him staying should Bayern not be interested unless he's chasing money, which is where the PL comes into play. City, United, Arsenal will all fight to sign him, which means higher wages for him. He deserves it to be honest.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Bayern went for Reus when he was at BMG, and he snubbed them in favor of Dortmund, because they had eyed him as the Ribéry/Robben replacement when Robben got injured for like the fifth time in one season, and Ribéry obviously isn't getting any younger.
Still, all players that sign for Dortmund improve each season, I can't really say the same for players at other clubs. I'd stay there if I was him, but then again, I'm a football romantic.

Was on kicker, transfermarkt, and 11freunde, though Dortmund have since denied the move, which doesn't really tell us anything either...

well, the kicker item I can find is merely denying a report from the Independent.
The Independent, like other English papers, seems to also lower its standards in silly season, as this report shows, where they falsely paraphrase BILD that Reus has rejected an extension and then get the date of the release clause wrong, again.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
I'm sure Liverpool is targeting Reus like every other club with enough money to buy him is. That doesn't mean they'll get him, or that there's a realistic chance of him coming here. I won't hold out hope or my breath for that one. Would I love it? Yeah, but if he's going to leave Dortmund it's much more likely he ends up somewhere like Barcelona or Bayern.

Those would certainly be 35m spent far better at Anfield than back in the day when they blew almost all of the Torres money on Carroll.

Not good enough when Top players get around 10-12M per season IMO.
A footballers life is like a time - bomb, gets over at 32-34 odd. He has to earn enough to maintain his lifestyle for life. And who does not want more money and a better life.
And Dortmund loosing steam due to inability to retain its core players will probably be a contributing factor too.
The tipping factor is he has the same agent as Goetze and Kroos who is a proven money whore, who will do anything to eek out every single euro for his clients and himself......
Dortmund would need atleast 8-9M odd to get him to sign a new contract and win trophies. Any suitors including Bayern need to come up with 10M+ atleast and hopefully 12M.
Kroos went for 12M and left his boyhood club Bayern under the same agent.
He fits Bayern real well. Ribery is 31 and will be 32 next year. He has too many injuries and performance issues in crunch games. He is loosing it. Reus is the ideal player to play LW/RW for Bayern from 2015

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
True, I didn't consider that. The agent.
Who told Kroos earning 8m with us is not enough
Yep, then probably Reus is off next year to the highest bidder (in wages and hand money)

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Actually Bayern was never Toni Kroos' boyhood club. Toni Kroos was born in Greifswald and went originally through the Hansa Rostock youth where his dad was the coach. Of course he went to Bayern U19 at 17 years of age, but I don't think that qualifies calling Bayern his "boyhood club".Footyfan wrote:Kroos went for 12M and left his boyhood club Bayern under the same agent.
Marco Reus on the other hand played for the Dortmund youth for 10 years between age 6 and 16, so that is far more of a "boyhood club" for him.

Looks like Kaiserslautern found some of the "old red devils" spirit...

Definitely think Wolfsburg are finishing top 4. Specially with Bendtner joining them.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Meh, they're kind of a less sad Leverkusen, in that they should've been playing in the UCL every season, and maybe mostly getting out of their group, if you just look on their squad, yet they haven't managed to make it all click since Magath's first stint there.
They also tend to hilariously waste money every window.

I wouldn't mind Wolfsburg displacing Leverkusen, but yes, I'd prefer Bayern, Dortmund, Schalke, and BMG to be the representatives.

For the ones who have seen Leverkusen in preseason, has Roger Schmidt been implementing a similar to style to the one he had at RB Salzburg?

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Well, I haven't seen them play, but saw interviews with some Leverkusen players and they said that they had to train extremely hard as their coach needed them to be 150% fit, so I would surmise he plans to let them play like Salzburg.

This ffs, Bundesliga my new favourite league
Højbjerg about Bendtner: "It is clear that the Premier League Bundesliga according to his physicality is 'his place', and I could see him scoring 20 goals in a season, if he hits a high level. Of course I can score 25, but that's a different matter".
Højbjerg, what a lad
