Re: CL R16: Barcelona FC vs Manchester City
@mole, This based on one game which happened to be their second knockout game since being taken over??
Sorry but I strongly disagree about you guy's prognosis. City have the players to manage a cleansheet and you don't neex 10 chances to score just one. They only need to be efficient and stay compact. Barca rely on the ability to stretch the team with their movements if Pelle has done his homework he will know exactly what to ask of his team
Wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if Bony started over Kun who will be able to hold onto the ball and allow City's widemen to get up

Re: CL R16: Barcelona FC vs Manchester City
flooding the midfield would of worked last year or the year before but not this season.
since messi's move to the right and neymars form.. we heavily depend more on the wing.
and if we can't we use some suarez magic.
hell our midfield doesn't really even try going through the middle half the time we just look out wide.
atletico tried flooding the midfield and look how it worked out for them vs us.

Agree with everything hala says. Pelle got this. Won't be fooled two seasons in a row.

If Pelle is smart he looks at how Madrid set up against Barca and does the exact same thing. He has the personnel to do it. If he stays stubborn and plays his base tactics, City get destroyed.

How do they lol? Besides Madrid's players are a lot more tactically aware than City are, they are battle hardened in these games and are actually champions lol.
Don't believe whatever Madrid do to beat Barca would work with City, not to mention Madrid has vastly better players.

Re: CL R16: Barcelona FC vs Manchester City
@donuts, Atleti's FBs are poor. Barca stretch them creating huge gaps between their players. Play wide play through the middle it doesn't matter when Atleti are compact but Barca manage to stretch them which creates space for Messi and Neymar to operate in
Doubt that will happen with City. Milner wnd Navas are naturally defense minded anyways so Messi wont be having it easy on the right
@fussball did you not see my RJ scroll back please. These posts are just post padding tbh

Re: CL R16: Barcelona FC vs Manchester City
Understand where you are coming from, but hala, I think you are unduly overestimating city's defense. I mean they have frigging gael clichy in their lb position. Then and there, they are loosing it. In addition, theres' kompany who is prone to brain farts far too frequently these days. Demicheles is a decent defender but is too slow and old, and that when coming up against barca's front 3, can spell doom, really. Zaba is the only reliable defender there. Their DMs are worse in that regard. Fernando, the octopus.
If Barca's defense is poor, city's is 10 times poorer.
No way they are gonna get past barcelona especially now when the latter has started to click. A narrow win at Emptihad and a minimum 3-0 demolition at camp nou, its going to be. The glimmer of hope is obviously aguero. If he decides to have a good day, then.. yea its gonna be a different story altogether.

Re: CL R16: Barcelona FC vs Manchester City
only thing i fear is the first leg.
manchester's season is pretty much riding only on the champions league.
they are going to be heavily motivated and come at us hard, so an early goal will do them huge damage.

If Yaya starts, Barcelona will beat City by at least 2 goals.

Re: CL R16: Barcelona FC vs Manchester City
@Hala I agree. Only thing is that I hope Pelle does not try to double team Messi. That Goat has a why of making defenders get in each other's way when defending him. I would have Fernandinho mark him. Maybe play a little hack-a-shaq like Brazil did against Hames. Only need to have Nasri pull a Wheelchair but with us going through.
Mole mad cause he knows that Newcastle has to be sacrificed this weekend to strength the Voodoo against Barca.
That feeling when you know Yaya is suspend for this game and don't need to bump the denunciation thread

Sorry fellow Culés, I just jinxed us hard and we'll get embarrassed for it but I couldn't keep it for myself.

I've a feeling one side will win big, just not sure which one
Anyway, looking forward to this, could be a great game.

Re: CL R16: Barcelona FC vs Manchester City
Honestly really demands on lineup. If we start with Kun and Dzeko I will feel more confident. Dzeko/Bony will give us the aerial domination with set pieces.
No pressure on City, to be honest. Fan don't get a sh** about Europe, hence not selling out on matches earlier in the competition. Higher management may not feel the same.
Pressure is all on Luis Enrique. If they are down early or late, I can easily see him panicking. Specially when he was closed to being sack around new years.

Aguero (Man City): "We want to attack more this time, dominate the match, not letting Barça have possession so they can play their game."
Zabaleta (Man City): "It will be an open game, between two teams who try to play football, who both want to have possession."
Hear, hear.

Fernandinho, Zabaleta, Clichy, Dzeko, Aguero are all one yellow away from suspension. And German ref, Felix Brych, is card happy. Already expecting Fernandinho to be out but will be replace by Yaya.
hoping for a good game thou. Who should be watching out for a yellow for Barca?
