But Neymar is a goalscorer. Thus he might be able to challenge Ronaldo. Who knows. In 2015 Ronaldo has only 3 goals more than Neymar so Neymar might even overtake him before the new season thanks to the Copa and who knows what might happen next season. If Barca wins the treble and Brasil the Copa, Neymar scores the same amount of goals.. why shouldn't he be able to challenge him? Especially as it's Neymar who people expect to become the "next bpitw".

that whole voting extension thing doesn't mean he didn't deserve it in the first place .also closing the votes that early when there are still big games to be played that same year is pretty dumb .

Well, as zigra said goals play a huge role and Neymar in 2015 isn't far behind Ronaldo with 3 games to play. IF (yes a big if) we win the treble it'll make his case stronger with all those goals, then he has the Copa America and followed by another 4 trophies with Barcelona before January.

Obviously this will depend on his form, but if it stays at this level why can't he claim 2nd?

Ribery was the most important factor in Bayern's success that year, without him they were lost offensively. It wasn't just about the goals and assists it was how he made it work look a well oiled machine, he was the key cog to make all of that work.

It was shown in almost every big game he didn't play that year they lost and they looked lost as a team. Besides if you don't want to give it to Ribery for whatever stupid reason give it to a Bayern player ffs.

All Ronaldo did that year was stat pad against shit teams, he did *bleep* all in big games. Key example being against Dortmund where he was a complete and utter non factor in both legs, and Dortmund ever exploited him defensively where nearly every attack came through double and triple teams down that side in almost every attack

If I just knew what the award is about. Goals, trophies, performance idk. Of course I don't know because there's actually no formula. Just a bunch of people who probably watch 2-3 teams half-regularly voting for friends or whatever else they deem worthy. Even the time frame doesn't make any sense - is just stupid. Actually sounds like some fun-award tbh though the actual joke is that so many people care that much about it.

the trophy is supposed to go to the best player in world , not the best player in the best team at the moment .
you shouldn't penalize Ronaldo for his team's shortcomings , he showed up in the majority of the big games that season and your more than content to just reduce his performance to the trophyless season and the dortmund game when the whole team got pressed into oblivion and Xabi decided  that he's a Dortmund CAM and not a real DM .

scored the winner against City in the group stages .
scored the two decisive goals against manchester in the second round .
scored the 3 goals that made the difference against Galatasaray in the QF .
scored a crucial away goal against Dortmund that proved irrelevant because the whole team collapsed in the second half .

scored a brace against Barcelona in the first clasico .
scored the 2 decisive goals that KO'd barça out of the copa semi finals .

opened the score in the copa final and hit the post , you can hardly make the claim that he didn't show up .

not winning silverware with your team shouldn't exclude you from winning the ballon d'or .
