Tbf that focus stopped as soon as soon as that E3 ended..... they switched back to games when they realised they *bleep* up.

But the damage was done really, they have been making steady progress though. Problem is PS4 is outselling the PS *bleep* 2 at the same stage so they look bad.

Reality is they are still doing very well, ( outselling the 360 at the same stage) and if they continue to make the right calls as they are doing at the moment the sales will come. Easy to forget that PS3 ended last gen on top sales wise despite 360 dominating for so long.

They can turn it around easily.

As silly as it sounds, It seems to me that several coincidences contributed to the PS3's sudden boost in sales, halfway through the last generation of consoles. I remember reading a few different stories about how different organizations suddenly decided to purchase PS3s in bulks for various reasons. A lot of people who already had Xbox 360s also decided to get PS3s after it's price dropped. The PS3 slim really helped boost sales imo. Case in point, me. I bought it on 2010 and I owned Xbox 360 since 2008. I actually did a marketing project on Xbox One vs PS4 and we came to the conclusion that Xbox focused to much on their satellite and secondary target markets and as a result lost a lot of their core consumers. PS4 knew who are the type of people that are willing to spend their time and money on a video game console and that's who they focused on satisfying the most and so far it has paid off brilliantly.

Here's the thing. People are not gonna spend $400 on a system when they can already watch Netflix through their smart TVs or Skype through their laptops. People will buy consoles for games. Instead of marketing it as an all in one entertainment system they should have emphasized the gaming aspect more and market the others as a bonus instead of jumbling games with all their other features on their marketing strategy. Microsoft has realized that too late. Also they had disastrous PR at 2013 E3. If they never had the borrowing games and always online nonsense a lot of people would not have switched to Sony. Post E3 they had to a lot of damage control.

That's the thing they did focus on the games at E3 ( it's all they talked about ) E3 wasn't the issue, it was the pre event initial reveal which did the damage.

Yeah, people confuse the Xbox One reveal with the E3 conference, the reveal was where they came out with all the TV bullshit.

MS and the Xbox division, led by the buffoons Ballmer and Mattrick, shot themselves in the foot with the reveal, the only reason I stuck with them was because I was too tied to the Xbox infrastructure to consider switching even if I wanted to lol, I also have some bad blood with Sony due to some non-Playstation related things *cough* Vaio *cough*.

Thankfully Nadella and Spencer have come in and are taking the brand forward properly now. I was watching the MS hardware conference at the beginning of last month and the shit MS came out with there was outstanding, and it pleases me that the team behind the new Surfacebook are the same ones designing the new Xbox.

This gen is honestly a wash for me, these "next gen" consoles are already being left behind in the dust, so I'm just looking forward to the next iteration of consoles at this point. Hopefully it won't take nearly 10 *bleeping* years like it did last gen, though tbh it was the success of the Wii and the Kinect that extended the life of last gen so much, there won't be anything like that this gen.

Halo community is so much fun. Apparently my bro at home got an XB1 and Halo 5. Can't say I look forward to new Halo games much anymore but I'll be hyped to get back home and play Halo 5 with him and have some banterous online matches

Can't wait till Black Friday though. Roommate getting PS4 and apparently someone is having a buy 2 get one free deal. He's going to get a bundle of PS4 with 2k and then we're going to follow it up by buying Fallout 4, Battlefront, and either PES or FIFA for the buy 2 get one free deal. My productivity right before the end of the semester is about to be KO'd.

Obviously they showed games at E3. It's a gaming expo after all. But it was still marketed as an all in one entertainment system up to release. Compare the two launch trailers of PS4 and Xbox One.

Looks like you have plenty of games queued up for the future. If you ever see Life Is Strange at a reasonable price in the PS store, I highly recommend getting that, though. Something tells me you'd love that game.

Battlefront is coming to EA Access on the 12th, so I'll try it out for you guys like I did with Need for Speed and let you know whether it's worth buying or not.

Hopefully EA don't *bleep* it up.

So they've been a few complaints from some scrubs about the short distance view of Halo 5's radar (if it were up to me there wouldn't be a radar in this game at all, but that's a discussion for another time). My mate captured short footage of him using the short distance radar to his advantage in a bid to show these scrubs how it's done.

Agreed, they're way too much of a crutch in shooters, to the point where if you have a game mode where the radar is disabled, you start seeing stupid shit like people running right past enemy players without even noticing them.

The radar will never be 100% gone though, publishers would worry about possibly losing the all casual players who need it to compete, well, barely compete, having the radar just puts them a step above cannon fodder

Talking about cannon fodder, my team and I had the most epic scrub moment in the same match the video I posted above was taken, where one of the enemy players, a friend of one of my mates who we had been matched up with, wiped us all out at our base.
