Ronaldo nazario came second to mathieus in the ballon d'or voting in 1996 but was given the FIFA world Player of the year in that same year.

Ronaldinho didn't feature in the ballon d'or in 2004 but was given the FIFA world player of the year, ahead of schevchenko who finished above him in the BDO voting in that same year.

Suarez hasn't been better than Neymar at any stage of his Barca career lol.

Although Bankz you need to stop with this Neymar is the best player in the world nonsense, while Messi around no one comes close to being able to claim that.

Let's see.

He was carrying Barca while Suarez was banned (Messi wasn't even good in that period) he was the top scorer in the CL, he created the most chances in the team apart from Messi.

Since Messi has been injured he's clearly been better as proven by the fact he's the one getting the hype generally and not Suarez and again last night he created the most chances.

Easy to forget that until April Suarez missed so many chances that he made the Dalglish Suarez look efficient and again this season he has started off slow by comparison.

Lol, neymar isn't better than messi and only a daft person will say that.. Did I actually come out as such? if you thought so then that's far from the truth.. Messi is the best and I wouldn't even need to elaborate on it.
I was only emphasizing that Neymar is the best player in the world (in the absence of messi) and that isn't even debatable at this point..

You brought up Suarez being missing for 25% of the year when those missing games have nothing to do with the calendar year 2015...which is what the Ballon D'or is about...

When those missing games where taken into account for the UEFA best player in Europe, which took the whole 2014/15 season performances into account, Neymar didn't even finish top 3. That was my point. Pretty self explanatory no?

The UEFA best player in Europe is different from the original Ballon D'or, and the FIFA Ballon D'or. Using those past awards as a metric when they are both combined as one now is a bit stupid...
