Don't worry if you don't like westerns, it's nothing like you would imagine. It's not a western in the sense that they are riding horses and gunslinging and dueling etc.

It's completely modern. A fantastic crime drama.

Also RG don't look. Spoiler Laughing

Inception is my personal GOAT but this is up there. Top 15.

Btw watch Hell or High Water. It has a similar setting. Great movie as well. You'll enjoy it if you loved NCFOM.

Hell or High Water is on the list. Ben Foster is one of my favorite actors, he's really underappreciated. Kills it every time, even if the movie he's in is meh.

It's a neo-western.

The time period is contemporary but has a western feel and tone. The particular events in the film take place in Texas in 1980.

It has the GOAT villain character bar none. This will give you food for thought about Heath Ledger's Joker being goat villain.

The Joker is over the top madness, while Chigurh is quiet relentless unmatched.

I shit you not, my first watch of NCFOM, Chigurh's character legit scared the crap out of me. Every scene he was in, I was on the edge of my seat in awe and terror.

Second watch through I knew what I was getting into with him and felt like his character had so much depth with so little dialogue it was insane.

With every watch he keeps getting better and better.

Old Country for Old Men  It's a masterpiece all around. Lee Jones' rambling was so random and captivating. It's like one of those older men you could just talk with mindlessly at a bus station without getting bored.

The suspense in that movie has no comparison. I've been mugged at gunpoint and had my house nearly broken into. That movie is one of the few movies that could replicate the helplessness and fear I felt in those moments. The realism factor just puts it above all those supernatural or horror flicks. The protagonist was a hardcore dude, but you just knew he was always two steps behind Chigurh.

Will watch Hell or High Water, thanks for the recommendation.

No country for old men? Yeah that was a great film, his gas pressured cattle killing weapon was beyond GOAT. Multipurpose tool, kills people with a reusable bolt and opens locks.

Plus he carries it out in the open, people have no idea what it is so their defenses aren't up, no one is panicking to reach for a gun or anything.

Speaking of which, it has been confirmed that book 4 will be adapted to a TV series starring Idris Elba as Roland. It will be a prequel to the movie.

The Chaser (2008)

This film felt like it was directed by Fincher. Probably the best way to put it. The direction was amazing.

Film had me hooked throughout. A really good suspense/thriller with a fantastic main lead.

I don't know how i feel about the ending. Honestly wasn't expecting that but you can only accept it. Part of me wanted a different ending but that would have been a betrayal to the film's tone.

This was actually better made than oldboy. They are both as good as each other overall.

8.6/10
