Not sure I can take internet trash talk from some low life anime Spurs fan rent-boy.

Hype for dat Spurs vs Pool tomorrow

based on form I can't see anything but a Spurs win, probably narrow though

massive game on Sunday between Leicester and Swansea, Leicester could find themselves dead last if results go a certain way

unreal if they go down this season after winning the league last year

even better if they win the CL this year :coffee:

Entertaining, open game between Arsenal and Hull.

I wonder whether Marco Silva knows what it takes to dig in in a PL relegation fight? They play attacking football instead..

Alexis should have made it 1:0

Alexis scores with a clear handball

The assistant ref was directly in front of it and didn't call it :brickwall:

@Jay
So? the ball was going nowhere near goal if he didn't use his hand to push it in.

So? It has to be an intentional handball for it to be a foul. Pretty sure that's the rule. Nothing about that was intentional.

How do you know it wasn't intentional? why was his hand up?

The ball was going away from goal and the only reason it went in was because Alexis had his arm extended up.

He was stretching and leaning back to get the ball, so his arms are out for balance. The ball ricochets up off Jakupovic before he can even move it out of the way. Can't be deliberate in that situation. His hand doesn't even move towards the ball.

It looks bad, but it's arguably a regular goal. Hard to insinuate intent in this situation.

@Jay29
Except it does move towards the ball. As soon as he kicks it his hand moves forward.

So there he is, in front of goal, with his hand above his head moving it towards the ball. Defenders get penalties called all the time for the ball hitting their arms when they are away from their bodies. How is this different?

I'm watching the link I posted with the clear view of the action from the linesman's perspective. He moves his arm forward as he is following through after the shot.

If that goal had been scored by Hull every Arsenal fan would be rabid.

His natural momentum is pushing him forward. His arms up because he's balancing. He's not moving his hand towards the ball INTENTIONALLY. It's very clearly ball to hand.

If he moves his hand and pokes the ball then it's handball. But he's not in control there, so how can it be intentional handball? Unless you think he can throw his hand up and palm it in in that split second.

Yes, there are penalties given for that. Blame inconsistent application of the rules.

The problem is that if we're honest, the rule is impossibly formulated.
Because it asks referees to judge an offense based on a criterium that is basically invisible and undiscernible - intentionality.
We've had this discussion before elsewhere and it will always have grey areas.

For me, a handball should be called also when the player has willingly put his arm/hand into a position where it's possible he connects with the ball - i.e. not just the intentionality of blocking/handling a ball but the intentionality of engendering a situation where a block/handling becomes possible or probable.

But IMO, Alexis movement has nothing to do with moving his arm into a position to play the ball for the simple fact that the ball ricochet into the opposite position is nothin you can plan for or expect, and his arm is in a position which is natural for his whole movement.

The video link you posted does not load for me.

Yeah, you and Rincon, the football experts who have never left your laptop screens. Maybe if you actually tried to get up and play real football, that was not played on the laptop, you would understand better.

Now that should have been a red card for Gibbs for denying a scoring opportunity.
