nice assist by Sancho as well

guess the first 15 minutes would be like that as blind fury is the only thing Schalke have now (they have changed their manager btw since the 0-8 vs Bayern so they're a bit more committed now), and they'd try to exploit the fact BVb played during the week

but overall there's no doubt BVB are the far better team

Classic GL anti-jinx Laughing He really has been poor, though. Both he and Sancho.

Ah, I wasn’t aware of that. That explains the rabid dog start to the match Laughing

Yeah well it's also of course the most important match of the season for them

seeing they're not in contention to win anything else

Sancho can be quite frustrating to watch sometimes, because he can be so productive with his playmaking, dribbling and general movement, yet he seems intent on stat-padding sometimes. And I don’t mind stat-padding, but he sometimes looks like he’s trying to emulate a young Cristiano Ronaldo in matches where Dortmund are struggling, and that’s no time to be firing wayward longshots and ignoring team mates in better positions.

Dortmund don’t have a proper backup striker, so I’ve been hoping Favre would rest Haaland and use Sancho as a striker in the less important matches. If he excels there, than that’s great. If he doesn’t, then maybe he’ll realize that he’s just not that type of player.

Yeah, I’ve read about him. He was hailed as Germany’s most promising, young striker somewhere. Looking forward to seeing what he can do!

he's shooting everything to bits and pieces, absolute crazy the amount of goals this kid has scored both for youth club and Germany teams

and it's not even the usual he's physically premature and that's his advantage, he's not actually that big and has played against older kids all these years (as a 13 year old in U17, as a 15 year old in U19)

Der Klassiker is tomorrow Molenation

Haaland has been nursing a knee injury. I hope he still starts. Sancho needs to find form soon. I genuinely think Gio Reyna deserves to start ahead of him, unless Sancho steps up his game.

Is everyone at Bayern fit?

Pls let's not call this game THAT. The name is a vomit-inducing PR attempt.

Süle (and Zirkzee) has tested positive. A second test was negative, so they both might have had false-positive results (as was the case with Gnabry the other week), but in any case they're not in the squad for the game.

Apart from that, AFAIK everyone's fit, apart from Phonzie of course with his serious ankle ligament inury.

Team will be

Neuer
Pavard-Boateng-Alaba-Lucas
Goretzka-Kimmich
Sané-Müller-Gnabry
Lewa

Only possible variation IMO might be Coman for one of Gnabry or Sané

The term seemed quite pretentious, but I assumed it had some history behind it hmm Shame that Davies isn’t fit to play. Bayern look a bit more exciting when he’s playing.

I've been quite impressed by Dest since he joined them. I don't follow Ajax at all, but he's looked very promising at Barca.

Anyway, Dortmund will be without Can, Marcel Schmelzer and Zagadou, which isn't really a big deal since none of them are all that defensively solid. However, it means that Witzel will likely play CB, and that's not exactly ideal. Hummels might not be fit enough to play, also Laughing

I predict Bayern will score at least 2 goals. I hope Dortmund can score a few as well. I haven't watched enough of these matches to know how much form or available personnel affects performance levels. In El Clasicos, motivation seem to trump those factors, more often than not. Against any other, decent side, I'd expect Dortmund to concede a few.

Well our performances have all been incredibly shaky lately and our defensive balance has been shocking, the amount of chances we gave to teams like Lok Moscow or Salzburg was crazy.

Unless we show a massively iprvoed performance tonight, I'd expect Haaland to score a few too

Have you watched Leipzig at all this season, Hans? I try to watch them whenever I have time, but Sørloth never seems to play, or doesn't seem to play in the first half, at least. Figured I'd analyze his performances at club level this season, but it feels a bit hopeless when he's just a bench option. Maybe he's been poor in training, or something. I don't think he's injured.

Not really, I saw them get destroyed by United and I saw them win vs PSG, but I have barely watched a BuLi game of them yet

I have no idea why Sörloth isn't playing, especially since I for the life of me do not rate Poulsen
But I would give it a bit time, he comes from the Turkish league and maybe Nagelsmann doesn't feel he's quite up to speed yet?

Anyway, teams

Lewandowski!

Bayern 1-0 Dortmund. Deserved lead, in my opinion. Dortmund have created 4 chances, and Haaland has made uncharacteristically poor use of 3 of them.

Gnabry is just too good, one 1v1 and some space and perfect cross to Lewand. Dortmund try all they can but Bayern seem to beat them down pretty hard every time? Razz
