Serious topic tho, embarrassed to see Son getting racially abused on twitter by United fans. Whatever be the reason or circumstance, absolutely no one can call him names. Hope those cnuts get identified.

Tough road for Tottenham now, that was a must win if you're Mourinho and Tottenham. 6 points behind with 7 games to go. The run in for Spurs isn't SUPER difficult, but not easy. Still have Everton, Leicester, Wolves, Aston Villa, none of which are guaranteed points

VAR usage gets worse every week.

Diange, the player between the no.5 and Southampton defender, is the one to score, and is quite clearly onside from this angle. But apparently this wasn't enough to overturn to the on-field decision of offside.

Goes to show, VAR cannot make-up for pure incompetence.

I've repeatedly had the feeling that they don't mind sabotaging VAR
Might it be that the refs are hoping ot get rid of it again?

Maybe? I don't see how this does the refs any favours, though. Them acting like a bunch of idiots isn't going to convince people the tech is evil... it's just going to reinforce they're idiots.

Totally agree. I find it the opinions on this really weird. Hits out with his hand, catches Son clearly in the face. It's a foul, not a red of course, but could well have been a second yellow.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting the situation, but I think what some people had an issue with, was how long Son stayed down and stalled the play for, not any claim that playacting was involved to force a foul out of nothing.

This for me at least. A lot of the pundits were saying it was never a foul, which I disagree with.

It's a foul but in such a technical way that it's kinda ridiculous. Yes, hand to face is a foul but from any angle, it was a very slight graze to face.

Why I don't agree with the decision is that refs need to use their "street sense" in these type of situations. Son only went down due to the fact he was never catching up to Scotty as the latter left him for dead leaving his team in a pretty bad spot.

After his failed attempt at grabbing (to which led to Scotty's trailing arm ironically), he got the slightest touch to face and went down. He was trying to buy a free kick and the ref was more than willing to sell it to him.

It's hard these days because most of these guys were taught through their entire youth years to use their arms and hands to get position or block players...  this was never a foul 5-10 years ago.  But it is now.  It's similar to a high foot.

But I agree doc... there's a pussification of football going on. Context has to count for something.

I obviously dont feel it was a legit foul.

But once the ref saw Mctom's hand in the face of Son, it was going to be ruled out. I wasnt at all surprised by the decision.

Again, I dont agree with it but I think based on how these decisions are being made it wasnt that surprising.

Situations like these have been deemed to be fouls so many times in recent years, that no one should be surprised. We can all argue that it shouldn't be, but like Sports alluded to, that's just how things are in the modern game.
