If we are being honest. Barca have been mismanaged for a number of years, something Messi has been part of. LaLiga are finally growing a backbone asking clubs to operate within their limits something Barca have ignored.

Nearly the whole team agreed massive wagecuts just so that Messi could be signed on a 100 year contract.

If you are not careful Messi isn't the only one you'll lose. You'll lose all those young players you have like Pedri and Fati

Blessing in disguise for Barça, they simply can't afford his crazy wages. However, what a stupid mistake to let him go for free. Last year was the right time to sell him.

Curious to see where he'll go. His agent's phone must be exploding right now, but who are we kidding? It's going to either be PSG or City.

Always wonder that. Are they afraid of becoming poor? You can buy 2-3 houses per week in the UK with that much money. You can become a property tycoon in half a year.

It's baffling how the board of a professional football club of Barça's magnitude could allow themselves to ruin their club by offering such a gargantuan contract to one of their players.

Even if he's the best player in history, at one point when you can no longer offer him the salary he wants, you have to let them go. It seems so crazily obvious to me, and yet you have a professional football club failing a 101-rule in finances.

Can’t believe it’s all over tbh me and my cousin wanted to make one more trip to the Camp Nou in hopes too see him for the last time in Barcelona at last wasn’t meant to be.

However at the end this was right decision the club has been screwed from Barto reign to begin with this will at least helps us out a little I still think are squad is a lot better then what most people think.

Good luck to him wherever he decides to go.

I bet this is Laporta attempting to pressure La Liga to relax the rules to keep Messi in the league. It is ridiculous how low-key this "ending" is.

Greatest player in their history, and still their best player, and the farewell is the equivalent of a wet fart.

Also, it is ridiculous to blame Barca's financial issues on Messi's wage alone, which given his sporting contributions is not remotely the greatest of their issues. Massive transfer fees for bonafide flops, as well as massive wages for scrub players like Umtiti, are more to blame, and those never had the sporting return of someone like Messi.

Sure, his wage is ridiculous, but he easily contirubtes as much as three players combined on the field.

i hear people talking about messi's wages....that man has probably even been underpaid based on what he's done for that club. some players, some athletes, you got no right to question what they make....the messis the jordans (super underpaid) the lebrons etc....mismanagement occurred elsewhere, that man's wages wasnt the problem.

Messi's wages definitely had a part to play but I would never fault Lionel. He demanded and Barca gave it to him and correct me if I'm wrong, he got a renewal every year or every other year for a while.

If you giving me more money every time I ask, I'm gonna milk it for what it is worth.

With that being said, I hilariously disagree with Tito immensely on the topic of underpaid/overpaid. The financial health of a sporting institution is extremely vital for the future success of said establishment and a club needs to make sure their wage structure is manageable. So I would have, at some point, told Messi no.

All in all, Barcelona would be annoyingly fine and those that supported Barcelona because of Messi would find another club to leech on.
