Can't think of anybody bigger than Benzema.

Having said that, even him and his legendary status can't hold a candle to Ronaldo and Messi. losing those two and Neymar before them is a big, big blow for La Liga. When you have superstars, you get better TV deals and clubs can negotiate better shirt sponsorship deals as well.

I guess LaLiga can't rule Europe forever and the end of its golden age had to come at some point. However, given how unbelievable rich the oil clubs are and how lucrative the TV deal is in England, can't see LaLiga recovering from this. Not now. Not ever.

Imagine 3-4 years ago if someone told me that the likes of Depay, Suso and a couple of washed up veterans are going to be the biggest attractions in La Liga....

Its been a long-time coming, and Atletico will get what's coming for them as well soon. I ain't letting Joao Felix for 120m be forgotten or Jackson Martinez for 45m. Its only a matter of time before they bounce as well, and with them, Simeone.



This is La Liga's level now, Aspas, Gerard Moreno, Lamela, Oyarzabal, etc, these are your 'marquee' figures as of now.

Pretty much though I could see the "marketing team" at La Liga trying to sell the league as a whole instead of using the top players from both Madrid and Barca as they are at war with Tebas currently.

Some of us have been saying this for years. Most La Liga and Serie A fans were busy celebrating English teams' poor CL performances in the mid-2010s while completely failing to see the bigger picture: EPL was ascending and their leagues were slowly declining.

Honestly, even during the mid 2010, the PL should have been way more dominant as even then it was the most organised and definitely most profitable league out there.

Shit, even this year, this should have been an all PL Super Cup but Man Utd decided that they needed to lose to Villareal. To me, they were always the best league, it's only for the last 3 seasons you are really starting to see their dominance show in both on field success and financial power.

One little caveat though: Serie A in the 80s and 90s were really dominant particularly the 90s. European Cup, UEFA Cup, UEFA Cup winners' cup, did not matter, Serie A teams were winning that.

PL isn't exactly doing that as of late but it'll happen, just a matter of time.
