Now relate that to his desire to move etc etc..way to defend an action.

If he was right why did he apologize again?

now relate that to how xavi is humblest person in the world.

I rest my case.

"I spoke to Cesc in Ibiza and he said he was suffering, because he really wants to come."

Look at that again.

The difference between he is suffering and he is suffering at Arsenal.

Xavi simply stated how Cesc is suffering due to his desire to come back to Barca but the complications involved whether emotional or between the clubs.

Definitely out of context.

He apologizes simply because its better to appease the 3rd party and move on but also because his choice of vocab was a tad bit to strong as you have to understand when Catalan/Espnanol is translated to english, the context is always out of context.

Spot on... listen to reason my friend.

Very Happy Hehe, well I was about to say fair enough to your unedited post. Tbh I wouldn't care at all if CR7 said something humble etc, I'm sure he's capable of humility.

I don't think this topic is really Barca vs Madrid, because I've seen evidence of many different supporters following this conjured up image of Xavi as a cocky loudmouth.

Yeah, gracious in victory, like Madrid players, especially Pepe:

lol at some Barcelona fans. Do you know Xavi personally? saying that we don't know what he is like, when he comes out and says "Cesc is suffering" what do you want people to think. A 24 minute video will never change my mind, the guy is ovverated.

lol, when every great midfielder has said they should all learn fromhim you keep loling. Even Xavi said Scholes was the best, will you not take his word for it> xavi, scholes, zidane and edgar davids have all said it. Xavi is a one trick pony. Best MF of his generation, i quote Pep there. Go and argue with them not me. Go and argue with Xavi your hero.

So you think phrases that have been taken out of context by a sensationalist media are actually a better judge of character when you see the superstar be himself for 24 minutes?

tbf, i think the most successful teams have arrogant players, but the cesc is suffering statement was confirmed by Wenger when he basically had a go at Xavi on skysports.

Who cares, none of us don't really know him personally so you cant say anything. Madrid fans will criticize him or hate him because they are fans of a rival team, its pretty normal. Some of the other people are probably just jealous that he is really good and rich!! The guy has money and is famous, says what he wants because he can so deal with it people, it doesn't bother me at all!!!!

We can never truly know of someone's motivations and whether they are being truthful or putting on a show.

BC, you have also fallen into the possible media trap, that if Xavi in this interview is speaking from the heart, how can you ever truly know? you can only speculate.

For all we know, he could have finished the interview, gone home and said to his wife: "I totally trolled the media today, I had them eating out of the palm of my hand, they think I'm a saint! *evil laugh*"

Your counter-argument that he would not truly be like that is only as strong as my speculation that he might.

I am more inclined to take seriously people who speak and act like they don't give a sh&t what you think of them... Someone like Paolo di Canio for instance- now there's a genuine person.

I'm not going to stick my neck out and try to confirm Xavi is genuinely a nice person like I grew up and went to school with him, if I don't actually know him from a bar of soap.

I think it more valuable to see how they "talk" on the pitch and their on-pitch "characters" than to get caught up in the melodramatic nonsense that is their personal lives.

After reading the interview, I have to agree that it averages the Xavi of this forum to become a really normal guy. His comments on Inzaghi were especially heart warming. Milan miss a lot without the magic of Super Pippo.

I'll give Xavi the benefit of the doubt and consider that he could be bi-polar.

Actually its typical Goal.com

What Xavi actually said was:
"We played well, but we need to be more intense at key moments in the game and finish the game"
"Football is like this, sometimes it seems unfair"

See the difference between the two, he never mentioned luck, and said that this universal to football.
He first blamed his teams, then moved on to say that this football, and it sometimes "seems" unfair.

So he leaves the say on the matter to be open to speculation.

Barca not being direct enough to score more goals is bad luck?
