It's probably his last season with Chelsea.

Re: Lampard Quits
"Lampard quits" is a bit different from "Lampard unused substitute", don't you think? Even if he did walk to the dressing room before the game was finished, of which I'm not sure.
Anyway, if it is his last season with Chelsea, nothing wrong with that.
He's 33 and has had a fantastic career there.

Yeah agreed. He had a fantastic career. I am not doubting that.

Re: Lampard Quits
He just needs to sit back and accept that he's not going to be a regular starter now. If he does that, then I think he could still stay at Chelsea.
The main problem for him is that he doesn't really fit into their system anymore. They want to employ a rather fast counter attacking style, although he relies on taking time and slowing the game up.

Re: Lampard Quits
yeah he's slow even when he was at his best. I think he should just accept that his prime days are over.

Re: Lampard Quits
It doesn't really mean that he has to leave Chelsea though. Giggs and Scholes at Man United have been prime examples. As they got older, they realised that they weren't going to start regularly, but they were able to fit well into a rotational system.

Re: Lampard Quits
He wont leave Chelsea, he played the full game on wednesday. He was getting a proper rest. But he will be playing a lot of games this season. Prolly as a sub but.. come on!
Re: Lampard Quits
yeah but the media is making a big deal of it, and AVB is playing it down but didnt deny that it happened.

Lampard has always seemed to me like a down-to-earth guy. I'd be surprised if he cannot accept a more diminished role in the team.

Re: Lampard Quits
i dont think he's down to earth. He clubs alot, gets drunk and goes out with babes. He's a party boy. People who are down to earth are more like kaka.

Re: Lampard Quits
Only time i don't like club legends is when they think it's their right to play everytime, even when they are in bad form. I wouldn't mind benching Zanetti when Motta and Poli are fit.

Lampard is a down to earth player, too. One of the classiest in the game.

I dunno. I dont think he's down to earth. Just a normal person. He's okay i guess. What do you think of Kaka or do you dislike him because he used to play for Milan?

Re: Lampard Quits
I have to disagree. To me, he's always seemed like yet another example of the English media superstar. There are worse out there, but I'm not his biggest fan.Art Morte wrote:Lampard has always seemed to me like a down-to-earth guy. Sure, if you compare him to Cole and Rooney, he's an angel. I agree.

The guy was the worlds best at that time so it was hard to dislike him.huntsman wrote:I dunno. I dont think he's down to earth. Just a normal person. He's okay i guess. What do you think of Kaka or do you dislike him because he used to play for Milan?

The only reason they weren't dropped is because they were all performing.
The Dailyfail are scum btw. Lampard played 70 minutes while we were down to 10 men against Fulham at the age of 33. He would have started otherwise.

Re: Lampard Quits
Lampard has had a good career but seen as Chelsea have got young midfielders like McEachran and Mata, I don't think he'll get played as much
