McEachran is going to the u20 WC in July, that's why he wasn't picked for the Euros.
Anyone know why Canales isn't going to the Euros?????
I would expect its probably because he's hardly kicked a ball in anger all season

Well put!
So the kid has gone from being the next hot shit to a peripheral figure in the spain u21's.
Can we get a big round of applause for Real Madrid and Jose Mourinho for their careful articulate development of Canales...hold on wait...

No way Josh is going to the U-20 WC lol. Pre season would have started by then and he'll be much better served playing with the senior players rather than going to a tournament the FA don't give a toss about.

Gil why don't you think Josh was chosen in the U-21 side?

Cause Pearce is a terrible manager. Along with Wilshere JMac is by far the best playmaker we have.

I couldn't agree more, I would have thought losing Wilshere would have meant he had no choice to pick Josh, Guess I was wrong.

Not a bad game so far between Belarus and Iceland....Iceland knock the ball around quite well, just don't have the cut and thrust to open up Belarus though...
if the Belorussians are gonna score, it's probably gonna be from a set piece...they don't have the movement to come through midfield right now...

Iceland completely implode....after controlling this game and being the verge of a goal....they concede a penalty and one of their players sent off for a poor tackle...
Belarus are now up 1-0 and are in control of the game...

You say 'No way' as if his call up is impossible. Pre-season has no bearing on who gets selected. All that would happen is that the players would get an extended holiday. Return to their respective team. Have about 2 weeks of training; followed by reserve matches then either go out on loan or warm the bench for the first team- just like McEachran did this year.
My guess is that if you go through the midfield of the u21 squad, you''ll see that the majority of MF's have played more games than Josh. Same applies with Spain in regards to Canales. He seems to not have been picked due to his inactivity in 2010/11.
However, McEachran doesn't seem to have been picked, so you've got your wish:

No one special from Belarus honestly...they are hard workers and defensively solid, but no one stood out for me there...
For Iceland though....there was Gylfi Sigurdsson of Hoffenheim...looked really good.
Johann Berg Gudmundsson who looked Iceland's best attacker with great dribbling and a great change of pace before he picked up a knock and was taken off in the first half.
No one else really caught my eye though.

Yeah I also thought Berg looked like the brightest player on the pitch and didn't deserve to be on the losing side today. I remember watching Sigurdsson at Reading and thought he'll be a top player in the future he didn't perform today though. Shame because he's a very well rounded player from what I've seen, fantastic at set pieces, can score, create and can also dribble as well.
Eriksen vs Shaqiri has been a great game so far.

Shaqiri got the ball at 30 yards ... Made a run .. Went through one, Cut inside and went through another .. Faked a shot went wider then slotted a great finish with his left foot in the right bottom corner..
Excellent.

Re: U-21 European Champions 2011
One of the Spanish players who endorses the view that this is a high-quality England side is Athletic Bilbao defender Mikel San José, who spent three years in Liverpool's youth team during Rafael Benítez's reign and holds English football in high regard. He has warned his team-mates to be particularly wary of Sturridge. "To me he is the biggest danger, he is an incredible striker," says San José. "He's very fast and technically gifted. We need to be more careful of him than anyone else. I have played against him in the reserves when he was at Manchester City and he stood out to me even then."

Re: U-21 European Champions 2011
Problem with Shaqiri is that he has no right foot whatsoever. If the ball ends up on his right foot, thats it, game over for him...he doesn't know what to do and tries to bring it on his left foot. All you need to do is block him from going left, and your job is done.
Btw, here are a couple of England U-21 vids, pretty entertaining to watch. They actually pass the ball better than the Senior team lol:
