Seems like everyone is dying out. Internet was so good back then. Something tells me the government is the reason it's dying tbh. Nowadays internet is moving towards becoming a subscription model. Everyone only uses like three or seven sites only... Basically Facebook, YouTube, reddit, Worldstar and hotmail/gmail or something

What exactly do you mean by old school?

While it's true that new forums/boards don't usually survive unless what they offer is unique. The main boards which started years ago are still going quite strong.

Twitter and Facebook dominate the market in terms of social connection, however boards are still popular for other source of entertainment as it's far more viable to conduct in conversations regarding whatever they want.

Saying that, maybe in 20 odd years the market might change even more. No one could have predicted facebook/Twitter/Skype being this dominant 20 years ago, and while we can predict better now than we could in the past. We still can't be sure what technology is going to bring us next.
