Best Spearhead Duo

442, 4312, 3412; these formation were regularly deployed several years back. There is a striking partnership in which one plays targetman/poacher and the other is more of supporting this player. Here we're not talking about that kind of partnership though, we exclusively talk about the striker combi in which the both of them could be the top of the formation or the spearhead. Let's pick from this bunch

Please inform me if I forget a notable duo

Edin Dzeko & Grafite at Wolfsburg in 2009 were great (54 goals between them). And in the past Uli Hoeness & Gerd Müller (1971/72, 53 goals between them).

Podolski & Klose for the NT FFS :p

Somewhere along the best in the past two decades. Bergkamp was supporting Henry though. In two strikers one always supports the other? Well, that's mostly the case, but what I'm proposing here is the idea that both the strikers in the duo could operate alone.

There's always one supporting the other. Can't have two classical "9s" in the area at once. I do miss those strike combos, because everything nowadays is having a great attacking midfielder or beast winger, else you will grind like mad.

Henry Bergkamp. I did also watch lots of Klose-Toni and those are two guys who can operate alone up front. Was great while it lasted.

Grafite-Dzeko, also. But they had Misimovic supporting, and he was awesome back then.

Anyway, Henry-Trez is great but I intended not to put Trezegol twice and regardless of the skill of the partner his partnership with Ibra is arguably deadlier. Messi-messi, hmm even one Messi would not be here as he is a false9 or a second striker if he is to deployed as partner with Higgy or Villa. Raul at those years was trequartista or second striker no? Yes he always had great striker movement, but from what I saw only later in his career that he is deployed as poacher.

Anyway again, yeah true one always support the others in certain ways but the point is about the combination of two strikers that could perform as well when alone up top, it's lonely on the top alone you know . There were certainly better ideal partnerships that are leftout here, but since if I were to make that kind of poll is more ordinary and much more choices, I decided to make it like this with the double spearheads.

Raul - Morientes was the bomb. Best partnership in recent memory IMO.

Whoops sorry missed that bit. Raul played quite a few positions in Madrid.

He started off on the left when Laudrup was still playing, then more centrally in a trequartista role after Laudrup. He then slowly but surely was played higher up and in the box.

By 2000 - 2002 I think it was safe to say he was a bona fide striker. During which he had a great partnership with Morientes. The chemistry was undeniable.

If it doesn't count, then I would say Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke were a great striking duo.

Really? Wasn't it really clear that Raul is the SS and Morientes is the CF like the way Del-Trezegol and Berg-Henry is with Raul dropping back in build up and such as I suppose so? How about Mija-Nando? Well, if it's like that I can tweak it you know with the speed of lightning :dance:

Didnt read it correctly, so Del Piero-Trez and Podolski-Klose dont apply cuz Podolski and Del Piero are support strikers. Two target men? Ibra-Trez were good, Helmes-Novakovic were good, and Dzeko-Grafite were beastly.

Helmes - Kießling had a fine run as well before Kießling lost his confidence and Helmes became a glass man...

Yeah they would off course be hear, but I am picking the choices from the 3 last 5-years-intervals, if I put them, the variables will be to large. It's not limited to clubs you can see the Spanish and the Czech there, but is there any other choice that you would put from the NT? The Ro-Ro from the Samba nation was the deadliest duo I've ever watched (and maybe even the GOAT of this category seeing they both are at least in the top 7 ST of all time), but I just to put Vieri there and they're already gaining steady voting. Oh and did you put anything under the Also.? Because in here I couldn't see if you put a youtube flash(?) format.

Helmes-Kiessling was explosive man, but it was too much break due to leg breaks. Del Piero-Trezequet would gain massive votes if they were added here I believe, but as I have stated 3 or 4 times in this thread, they don't fulfill the criteria here, otherwise it's a damn different poll bro. Dzeko-Grafite was beastly, do anyone intend on giving vote on them? And also how about Mijatovic-Morientes? I'm thinking of putting this two in in place of the Czech and treble Inter duos. :dance:
