RIP Gary Speed

I am personally still shaking from the news, it has hit me hard ( but considering he was on my favourite players growing up its hardly suprising)

Only one week after German referee Babak Rafati attempted suicide and was just saved by his colleagues, this tragedy occurs. It is saddening, but if he was depressed, there is no real answer to the question why he did it as the illness ruled his actions. RIP Gery Speed.

RIP, a legend of the BPL. I am schocked, it seems like yesterday he was still playing and now he is gone.

Unbelievable stuff. Was the first headline I saw when I logged in this morning. Truly devastating for Wales and the EPL.

RIP Gary Speed. Whatever tormented him in life can no longer do so now. We should all take solace in that fact. He's at peace.

This is unbelievable...This ruined my day, and my friend's dad died this weekend as well.. This is a big loss for football, but more importantly, a big loss to his family.

Nobody knows what was going through his mind, so we can't comment further until we really know exactly what happened. Depression is a nasty, nasty disorder that many people don't take seriously.

Assuming it was suicide, I am puzzled as to why he did what he did. He was doing a great job with the Welsh NT, and seemed very optimistic about their future. He was also a family man with 2 kids. He had A LOT to live for..

Maybe many things were bothering him about the past, his life, i don't know, but suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem and I find it hard to believe he just took his own life and didn't think about his kids and wife before he did so. To me that is very selfish, but I don't want to jump to assumptions.

Money and stature is not everything. In fact, as hard as it can be to believe, having more money + power can make you way more unhappy, because you make many sacrifices to be in that position.

RIP Gary Speed. I really would like to know more details about this before any further comment

WARRINGTON, England -- An inquest into the death of Gary Speed has been told that the Wales national team manager was found by his wife hanged at home.

A police officer confirmed to the inquest that Speed's wife found his body shortly before 7 a.m. Sunday and that there were no suspicious circumstances.

But the inquest did not speculate upon the reasons for the death of the 42-year-old former midfielder.

The coroner adjourned the inquest until Jan. 30.

The English Premier League says it will ask fans and players for a minute's applause in honor of Speed ahead of this weekend's matches.
