The large misconception that PKs are 'easy' to take or that a certain individual can be analyzed upon that :" but half of them are penalties", is quite frankly ridiculous.

If anything penalties are even more difficult considering its a mental battle between you, the keeper and the fans.

Does anyone even measure the amount of pressure and burden that builds up during that moment of time? Does anyone even pause to think how many semi-pro/Pro players shit themselves while playing in front of less then 100 fans? Does anyone even realize why there are SPECIFIED players to take penalties for a team?

I'm not going to defend Messi simply because I feel he is an EXTREMELY POOR penalty taker. He is quite predictable considering all he does is his hop step delay, and than shoots in the right corner.

It was clever at first but now just redundant. Sadly Guardiola wants Messi to perform every single role for the team. Next Messi will probably be the Valet for Nou camp.

Point is, Ronaldo's goal tally is every bit deserved simply because he has time and time again won the mental battle between himself, the keeper and the hoards of fans/opposition tifosi who despite his every moral fiber.

This goes for anyone else as well.

People should have in mind that assigning someone else to take the penalties following 2-3 failed attempts by Messi might have impact to messi’s moral overall, while at the same time does not guaranty scoring success from the post

Seriously, that was an awful penalty from Messi. He could have done way better than that...

Penaldo also was Missnaldo before he was missing in CL final and semi-final. But now in madrid he gets a penalty every game so he improved his skills. Messi gets penalty once in a 2 month so i think he forgot how to take a penalty

but dont forget that messi is very young he just starts to learn how to take penalties how to lead a team. if he was 27-28 then we would say he is flop at penalties. nobody was born with all abilities and penalty is an ability that you can learn any time its not a talent or something

You can't teach clutchness ... Penalties are a roulette .. but Messi is horrible at them not because he cant shoot or place a shot but coz he chokes under that pressure , if it was 2-0 he would of got that penalty ....

I think messi is a good penalty taker, all he needs is more anger to shoot like he did vs milan.

and i think you can not judge his penalty abilities vs diego alves who saved 70% of penalties in la liga in last 2 seasons

he loves technical kicks you can see it at his free-kicks, passes, lobs. he is an artist. But at penalties you must be rude, its not an hard task i have seen even goalkeepers score penalties

if you make messi angry during penalties he will score a perfect penalty (reason is he will shoot it hard)
