Re: La Selección Argentina
What's the deal with the friendly against Saudi-Arabia November 14, will it be first choice squad?

Re: La Selección Argentina
Great result, not a great game.
Our defense was back to its shambolic self again. Mostly thanks to Campagnaro and Zabaleta, who were both absolutely awful and got owned countless times. For some reason Zaba thought it was a good idea to push up and leave a huge gap, allowing Isla to overlap. Thankfully Di Maria bailed him out when he left someone wide open in the box. If Guinazu didn't come on, we probably would have lost this game I'd say. It's time for others to get their shot in defense, the likes of Insua, Peruzzi, Tagliafico, Monzon etc. Mascherano needs to go to defense as well imo, the reason we couldn't play our game last night was because of the high pressuring system of Chile which we could not deal with AT ALL, I'd say about 80% of the time we tried to play it out of the back we ended up hoofing it and turning over the ball, which is unacceptable. Mascherano has become superb at bringing the ball out the back for Barca, I think he can excel at doing the same job for us.

FedFern was just a disaster, all those handballs in the box , he also missed two sitters that Messi set up for him on set pieces. Let's hope he improves with Napoli and gets his shit together before the next game he plays for us.
Gago was amazing, what a player. He was just everywhere, his quick thinking and passing was superb and really helped our quick counters flow nicely. Crucial, crucial player for us. Can't imagine what we would do if he wasn't so great for us.
Di Maria needs to work on consistency and decision making, he has gotten better with it over time and hopefully it will continue to improve, I didn't like him last night much. He should have at least shot at goal when Messi set him up in the opening minutes.
Higuain had a good game, worked hard and scored a fantastic goal. Kun was great with his play and link up with Messi as usual.
Messi was Messi.
Overall, great round of qualifiers, we are almost there!

Re: La Selección Argentina
Coloccini can bring the ball out of the defence better than any CB in the PL
You desperately need to find a quality LB, Zabaleta can play there but he's much better at RB.

Re: La Selección Argentina
If Masch is to go back into the 4 who would you want as DM?
I personally prefer Masch as DM just because i feel the options at DM are limited meanwhile at CB there is a few options should Sabella actually pick them.
GOAT imo

Play Zaba at LB (can't think of significantly better options and he's Messi's friend) and Peruzzi at RB and I agree with mole.

Re: La Selección Argentina
Masche hasn't been shining at DM, he was pretty bad last night until the last 30-40 minutes when Guinazu came on, Masche seemed overrun by Chiles pressing. In place of Mascherano at DM I'd play one of Banega, Guinazu Yacob or Biglia. Masche doesn't have the same type of commanding presence at DM that he does at CB. He is prone to getting overrun, which is not necessarily his fault, more the coaches fault. If we can put a player there that can anchor the defense and provide with a good passing range, we should be okay with dropping Masche to CB.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:If Masch is to go back into the 4 who would you want as DM?

Seriously, haven't ever seen him put in a good performance for Argentina. He's always either okay or bad. I'd kill to get Sorin back

Re: La Selección Argentina
Also a day before the Chile match our U20 side won a regional competition there.
With a goal by Simeone's son, Argentina won against Chile 2-1 at home and took home the friendly quadrangular. The other gaol was from Buter; the Independiente player ended up as the tournament top scorer.
The Sub 20 won 2-1 to it's Chilean equivalent and won the Four Nations, a friendly tournament in preparation for the South American tourney, that will be played next year in Mendoza, Argentina. The players that shined the most were the River Plate players Giovanni Simeone, with only 16 years, and Manuel Lanzini.
Argentine had drawn the last two games, and Chile only needed to draw to become the champion. The local team started winning in the 9th minute but after that Argentina grew into the game and dictated play.
From Lanzini's feet came the clearest opportunities and he almost scored twice. Trobbiani [the coach] sent Simeone to the field and almost instantly he combined with Lanzini for the drawing goal.
The result was not enough but, eight minutes from the end, Vergara took Lucas Salas down at the penalty box and Leo Buter put the 2-1 from a spot kick. The South American of next year will be played for the 4 U20 WC spots in Turkey.
The teams:
Chile: Cortés; Vergara, Lichnovsky (Rojas), Huerta; S. Martínez, Martín Rodríguez (Baeza), C. Cuevas, C. Fuentes; B. Rabello; N. Castillo y D. Rubio (Mora).
DT: Fernando Carvallo
Argentina: Meharing, Carlos Ruiz, Oscar Aguirre (G. Fernández), Valle, Gil Romero (Simeone), Kranevitter, L. Rodríguez (Salas), R. Gómez, Isnaldo (Zárate), Lanzini y Buter (Mamana).
DT: Marcelo Trobbiani

He plays for Racing Club de Avellaneda. We are interested in him but Racing won't sell till next summer because they think they can get more buyers.

@Jiopsi: yeah.
I agree that it's overall a good list, but there are some lols to be had. Di Santo most of all
I'm guessing Sabella didn't want to interfere with the Brazilian schedule because none of the players that play there have been called up.

Well lets face it, Di Santo is probably not going to play. I'm eager to see if we're going to go 4-3-3 with Fantastic 4 or if we're going to experiment with other formations to bring in salvio or tino. I heard Rinaudo isn't too bad so we're good for DMs right now. Ricky Alvarez still hasn't convinced me. Idk why he is getting called and Lamela isn't.

Re: La Selección Argentina
Different roles shini. Ricky is likelier to find a role as a sub for Gago than Lamela is as a sub for Di Maria or Aguero.
