2011-'12 theme: Two clubs above others

In all the four major European leagues - Barclay's Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A, La Liga - there have been two clubs this season clearly above the rest.

Manc City and United have almost 20 points to 3rd placed team.

Dortmund and Bayern - Schalke 9 points behind Bayern M.

Juventus and AC Milan - Udinese 16 points behind Milan.

Real Madrid and Barcelona - Valencia 29 points from Barca.


Hopefully this has been a once-off season from this point of view. It's more exciting when two clubs aren't dominating the league. Although it has to be said that to compensate this, there have been (and still are) some brilliant races for finishing in Champions League places. BPL's and La Liga's relegation battles have been thrilling as well. But title races have been two team duels.

I think title races are almost always 2 team races. Except maybe the Bundesliga. But Dortmund have been really dominant this year. If they keep this up and Bayern strengthen next year, then Bundeliga will become a 2 horse race too :vagi:

9 points in the Bundesliga isn't that much.

If you look at La Liga you can see that it's the most uncompetitive league in Europe.

the gap between the 2nd (Barca) and the 3rd (Valencia) is bigger [29points] than the gap between the 3rd (Valencia) and the 19th (Sporting Gijon) [24 points]

That's just ridiculous xD

Actually I'd hope that Schalke will manage to strengthen a bit and then take part in the title race again. After all, not too many weeks ago, there were Bayern, Dortmund, Schalke and BMG within 3 points of each other. I bet the Schalke guys will move heaven and hell trying not to let Dortmund finish above them again. And the Hunter already stated that they want to fight for the title next season.

to be fair if arsenal hadnt had that horror start to the season they wouldve been more competitive also im sure chelsea will be much stronger next season too

Spain has been a joke league for a while. This is just a fluke for the other leagues.

The difference between the last EL spot hopeful team in EPL(Newcastle at this moment of time) and the team just below the relegation zone(Bolton) is 30 points

The diference between the last EL spot hopeful team in Serie A(Inter) and the team just below the relegation line(Lecce) is 22 points

The difference between the last EL spot hopeful team in LaLiga (Sevilla) and the team just below the relegation zone(Zaragoza) is a mere 9 points

unn competition isnt only for the top two places in a league .. but i guess you know that, right?

They have been brainwashed by their money wh*re of a president who is enjoying his time inside the prison for fraud....

Hpefully they get a new president who is smart enough to realize that other teams who just uses talent from their hometown are in the final of EL and actually spend the money they get from selling players wisely like Pathetico and Valencia are doing
