If Ashley Cole is the best LB in the world, the standard of LB's nowadays is really shit.

It makes sense actually, we still have Gibbs/Santos as our LB

Played 10 games or more i think.And in those ten games 4 or 5 games he has been a standout performer.

Cole has been rubbish this season and suddenly two good games against Barca and he has become the best again..

Havent watched Filipe Luis enough though.

Cole like Evra has been living off a name for about 2-3 years now he is'nt the best just because you cant think of anyone else dont mean you can name him lol.

Baines, Santon, Enrique ( Until March), Clichy, Akoutto, Neil Taylor etc etc

Have all been more consistent than Cole this season in the PL alone.

It does annoy me how when these lists come about people name the big names and just ignore performances completely its like most people dont even watch games

Cole has been a disaster for Chelsea under AVB and only looked decent after DMTEO park bus tactics.

As inconsistent marcelo was this season he still probably wins this shows how there is lack of good FBs in that position

LB=Filipe Luis

LWB=Marcelo

LB+LWB=Marcelo

Having Mata on the LW hurt Cole performance a lot, Mata was all over the pitch but never stayed on the left flank.

I say with everything Cole has accomplished i think he deserves to be nominated.

Agree with that, but iam basing my opinion on form over the last year-18 months.

If we based on what peoples accomplished then Evra would be up there too but fact is he's been poor for a very long time ( Cole hasnt been as poor as him but his level has differnt dropped alot)

Why is Marcelo so underrated ? He was very good defensively against Robben in the 2nd leg, never flopped against Barca (except the 5-0, when the whole team was flop), and he rarely misses tackles. He should improve his positioning. He's the best and most talented LB. In 2-3 years he'll be a beast.

PS : Lahm is RB.

Really? Are you referring to this season? If you are, then Marcelo has easily been better than Abidal, without any doubt. Marcelo has matured and developed into a great left back. Just take a look at how he handled Robben, and the way he can maintain the balance between attack and defence. Last season, Enrique, Marcelo, and Abidal stood out as the best left backs in Europe, which is a great testament to the improvement he has made. This season, no one comes close to the Brazilian. It still leaves me perplexed that, even though this is off topic, that Mourinho gives Coentrao more playing time than he should.

I agree with your sentiments, however, that no one is the best.

The whole Bayern team looked completely desolate. You can't really expect a 19-year old to carry the whole team on his shoulders when all of them are collectively steamrolled by Dortmund. He showed he was a good team player and thus joined the rest of the Bayern team with the level of his performance.
