This doesn't bother me at all as it was already discussed earlier in the thread. Plus, it makes perfect sense to deny contact if you're trying to sign a player. The more that other teams think you're going to sign him, the more inclined they'll be to outbid you if they're serious, therefore, avoid the whole thing by denying contact.

Wenger - I expect a quiet transfer market. hmm

"We have already bought Podolski and we have bought five players during the season when it had already started," Wenger told Arsenal Player.

"Our job will be focused on inside [matters] now we have Podolski. That means to get Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby back in a healthy situation and then I believe we have quite a big squad. It will be [our intention] to trim a little bit and if possible add one or two players.

"I believe that the summer will be quiet for many reasons," he added. "First of all in England you have a 25-man limited squad number. Secondly the financial situation all over Europe is really bad and in some countries they have other worries than football. Therefore I expect it to be quiet.

"In our job, and this is like a football match, it is not completely predictable. But on the vibes I get even from the clubs who are big spenders, they all want to slow down."

A quiet window can still be a successful one. Wenger is right about the squad size and about how internal situations need to be sorted. As much as we need reinforcements, the contract situations of van Persie, Walcott and Song need to be sorted, and the deadwood needs to be shifted. All of that will efect our budget for buying players and it'd probably be more prudent to get them sorted first so we know what we're working with.

The first game is 26 days away, and most nations will have at least two friendlies before they fly off to Poland/Ukraine and I'd imagine they would have at least two weeks preparation time before their first game.

Just looking at England's friendlies and there's one of the 26th and one of the 2nd of May. First Euro game in the 11th.

So really, I think it'll be impossible to get all of our business done before the Euro's and we won't have long to secure deals of some of the better players playing in the tournament.

BBC also mentioned that a final decision is unlikely to be made before the Euro's, so we shouldn't be expecting anything from that meeting.

I might be alone in this opinion, but I think we should not sell van Persie even if he doesn't sign a new contract.
