Sounds like good news to me.

If everything was agreed and simpatico, he'd have signed it already. No reason for it to be taking this long unless his delay in putting pen to paper is an intentional one.

Why would they be? Besides, the contract was allegedly all finished and on the table for him to sign in early December. Why the hold up?

I am sure there are lots of reasons, there isn't any rush, regardless.

And even if details were somehow inexplicably held up during the window, there was a contract for him to sign on the table for 3 weeks minimum before it opened. Why not sign it then?

I don't know. I just know that there is no need to freak out, he'll sign a contract and he isn't going anywhere.

I think he's fullfilling his potential now that we finally got a proper striker, a creative midfielder and a solid RW and that our attacking phase got much more threatening and homogenous and not too reliant on him. I'd only sell him for +100M if it meant buying Royce, Hummels and Gundogan with it or if it meant funding a clamorous Messi bid.

Actually, that's not a bad idea, sell him and buy Messi.

I'd rather not sell him, at all. as long as he keeps playing well, he's going to be a vital cog in our team, and if he keeps improving his game, he'll be future Ballon D'or material.

If this season is an example of him "fulfilling his potential" then I'm decidedly underwhelmed. 6 goals from open play in the league and 5 assists in 23 games. Which means if the current rate holds, he'll finish the season with 13 goals overall (1 fewer than he managed last term) and 8 assists. Hardly £100m-worthy stuff. There's no question he's our best player and is just about magical with the ball at his feet, but as I said to Gil a few months ago, anyone who is satisfied with his actual, tangible production this season must have a very low rating of his ability and potential indeed. He could be, and needs to be, doing alot more before we can even contemplate starting to talk about him being potentially the best footballer on the planet.

Well of course he can't just stop improving, no one stops improving at 24, but let me explain. Our team since he joined has improved massively to make him perform at his best tactically-wise. We don't have to heavily rely on him to score a goal or assist one because we have a goalscoring machine in Diego and a goalscoring chance creator machine in Cesc, we have a tremendously balanced and efficient midfield, we now have an actual RW who's very threatening so that teams can't just focus on their right and leave the left wide open anymore, our fullbacks are pushing a lot higher this season, for example, Ivanovic has been playing like a RW, Azpi is actually pushing forward twice more than what he did last season, Luis is a master at overlapping, so he always has support from the LB to play one-twos or to give him the space to cut in the middle. He's 24, not a kid anymore, he's at third season with us and at his second season with Mou, he's not settling in anymore.

And the stats don't really tell the whole story. Like you said, he's our best player, he's magical, but that's without having absurd stats. Of course the stats can be improved, absolutely, but I can't see him improving his play at Chelsea more than what he improved in these 3 seasons.
