Ronaldo's reply was silly though and his preformance was ridiculously sh*t considering how good we know he can be. Should have said something like ''Messi was Denmark's best player''

His answer was directed more towards the Danish fans than Messi himself, he has great respect for Messi and on numerous platforms have praised him.

He was just trying to find the logic in a team (which was eventually beaten by Portugal) chanting the name of a player who has no links whatsoever to their team.

At the end of the day it was the Portugal fans who were celebrating and not the Danish fans, so the joke is certainly on them.

he just had a bad game and he has to face another reporter asking him to compare himself to messi...

That's nonsense, he's the most mentally tough player I've ever seen, always bouncing back from one setback after the other, the guy is the most expensive player ever in football and yet he continues to deliver despite the enormous pressure from his huge price tag.

The reporter didnt ask Ronaldo to compare himself with Messi, he asked him what he thought about the Messi chants.
