The top 5 back in 2004 or something used to have Manchester United, Milan, and JUVE.

If Arsenal are so rich why do they have wage caps and never get big players etc?

Re: Manchester United tops Forbes magazine again
To pay of the debt. We have a sustained model atm. We can spend 100m per transfer window, but then we will end up in a dept of 1bn like some teams.

Took a loan to build the Stadium + Develope Highbury Apartments and the Training Facilities. Think it was over 500m but we have paid most of it, now its around 150m

Re: Manchester United tops Forbes magazine again
I absolutely despise these forbes list, how the hell do they attempt to value a football team like Manchester United?
Worse yet, the online article does not explain at all.
Edit.
This is precisely the reason they are so "rich".

Re: Manchester United tops Forbes magazine again
We will be in the same situation as barca then ( without the debt ). Use youth as well as being able to spend as well as others

No I listed all the football clubs in that list, its filled with NFL mainly. I think a few baseball and like two NBA (Lakers & Knicks).
Also F1 Ferrerri and MC

Re: Manchester United tops Forbes magazine again
the reason man u is valued so much is their fan base all around the world, especially in Asia (India, China and South Korea). That is a big part of their value.
Then you have to add the 400-500mil debt they have.
The Glazers bought them for 800mil in 2005
One more thing to increase their price is the possible listing as a IPO on NYSE.

It clearly says most valuable not richest lol and since Madrid would never be subject to sale that number doesn't mean much.

Being rich doesn't mean you have money....
Man City has the biggest transfer kitty, but if that was taken away. Their club is worth nothing, small stadium, not a big fan base.
If Chelsea built a new stadium they would jump up alot in the list. The reason they are so low is due to their facilities which aren't the greatest

Re: Manchester United tops Forbes magazine again
Chelsea isn't that valuable because of their monster debt to Abramovich. If Roman was ever going to sell you can bet he would ask for that debt to be paid.

-wikiChelsea are additionally funded by Abramovich via interest free soft loans channelled through his holding company Fordstam Limited. The loans stood at £709 million in December 2009, when they were all converted to equity by Abramovich, leaving the club itself debt free, although the debt remains with Fordstam. Since 2008 the club has had no external debt.
