I don't think that was confirmed or denied either way. I think it's more likely we have first refusal on him than an outright buy back... though I'd imagine that if he ever left, he would go for around £30-40 million.

But if it would ever happen just imagine the potential of two creative forces in Cazorla/Cesc and the striking options of Podolski/Giroud.

Cesc's love for Barcelona won't override his common sense. If he continues to struggle to find a spot in the team and form, then he'll leave Barcelona. It might not necessarily be back to us, but I highly doubt he would stay at Barcelona whilst being in the position he's in now.

Love in any form is a very funny thing Jay. If at all a day comes that he does want to leave, we would be his first choice. Its no secret that we were, and continue to be, the next best thing to home for him. He loves Arsenal and Wenger. Plus we have first refusal as a part of the clauses we put in while selling him to them. If he leaves, it would most likely be to us.

But I don't see him leaviing. He has been there for only one season. He isn't playing regularly, yes, but has not been ostracized enough to consider a comparison with his life at Arsenal and London.

If he does not get minutes at Barca I am sure he will be dropped.

I doubt that would happen anytime soon. His role in the NT is that of an impact sub anyway - the same role hes playing at Barca. There is no doubting his quality and ability to contribute.

If Diaby gets picked on the back of three games in more than 2 years, then I see no reason why Cesc will be overlooked in his case. (I know that France and Spain are entirely different beasts here).

Agree with this to an extent Mick. The fact is, Cesc is miles away from Xavi in playing that role. And Barca can not play a system which lets Cesc shine unless they move Messi to the wing and play an out and out striker up top, with Cesc operating between the AM and SS positions (otherwise known in goonerdom as 'The Cesc Role') - yeah that ain't happening.

He can't replace Iniesta either. And then there is this bunch of youth who are tailor made for those roles. Ofcourse, Cex can adapt his game to suit Barca formation more, but then he would be sacrificing what he is really WC at to learn something that was never one of his strengths.
