Post by The Messiah Sat Sep 22, 2012 10:46 pm

Today while in chat, (I'm not going to mention any name) but I over heard a novice in this beautiful game, saying Bayern have old declining established players, why don't Dortmund only have young bloods.

I decided that I should not let this go by, without dealing with it, as we already know I like to disprove people.

Madrid older than Barcelona? Surprised about that. Who brings the average so high at Madrid? Carvalho...?

Bayern doesnt have a old aquad by any stretch, but looking at Dortmunds first 11, they have 8 players that are 23 yo or younger. while Bayern has only 4. Weidenfeller and Kehl really bring the average age up quiet a bit.

In 3 years time, both clubs needs new set of player, most especially Barca, Unlike Bayern..

Muller will simply replace Robben and Shaqiri for Ribery and we are set.

Casillas will still be GK, a new RB will probably be bought next summer, Varane will take Pepe's place, Ramos will stay, Marcelo/Coentrao, Khedira, Modric and the attack.

Barca don't need to do much either.

Only players that I think will change are Alves, Adriano, Mascherano, Xavi and Alexis.

Barca already have ready-made replacements fors most positions...
--> Montoya, Alba, Thiago, Buy a CB, and Neymar/Deulofeu.

Lahm won't get faster with age either, and unless you think you want to move Boateng to RB again, there is the usual FB problem, only this time at RB.

No one called Bayern's team old. We just said Dortmunds team is younger :coffee:

Anyways when people think of bayern they think robben, ribery, schweini their most known players. And those players are all in their late 20's approaching 30. So its only normal for people to call them old.

But when you say Dortmund people think Goetze Reus Hummels who are all in their early 20's. And thats why they call them young.

What's wrong with Alaba?

Alaba plays as left back, any way Weiser will easily replace Lahm but Lahm will only be 31 then, so I expect him to still be playing at top level.

Sorry I meant 5 years time, I was using my iphone so I mistakenly typed 3 instead of 5.

Yeah in 5 years time Bayern team will look like this.

--------------------------Neuer(31)----------------------
Contento(27)--Boateng(29)------Badstuber(28)--Alaba(25)
---------------Gustavo(30)------Martinez(29)---------
Shaqiri(25)---------------Kroos(27)--------------Muller(27)
-----------------------Mandzukic(31)---------------------

the only position that might need strengthening is right back, but then we also have Weiser as alternative.

Mediocre. Typhical CHL Round of 16 team back to being a non-entity in European Football.

If Bayern looses Robben,Ribery,Schweni,Lahm,Gomez then there will damn sure be 4-5 Major Superstars by them. This team cant even make the CHl final.

I am pretty sure Kroos-Martinez is the Future Bayern CM combination. Alaba know one know,he could turn out as a CM or a LW too.

Mandzukic at ST?? Contento as RB?? A Wieser who could get chance in a relegated Koln??

I am pretty sure the likes of Draxler,Ozil,Goetze,Reus will come to Bayern. I mean 1 or 2 of them. There will be major buys when Schweni,Robbery are not good enough. Whether that is Ozil or Goetze or someone else is hard to tell.

Or maybe SOME huge Foreign Player. But the team will get 50M of transfer budget every year and is unlikely to stay this way.

Got nothing to say to this pretense.

It's normal to call Robben, Schweini and lahm old when they are all 28, still 2 years away from being 30. I guess it's save to say Seria are ancient if you consider 28 years old players OLD.

Oldest player in our first team is Ribery who just turned 29 few month ago, that's the same age with Van Persie.

AL3 wrote:But when you say Dortmund people think Goetze Reus Hummels who are all in their early 20's. And thats why they call them young.

and when you say Bayern, you don't think of Kroos, Muller, Alaba, Badstuber, Boateng..?

Our average age is 25 because of Starke, Van Buyten, Tymo and Pizarro that have messed it up that badly and they are not even starters in Bayern, Unlike Kehl and Roman Weidenfeller who are both Important for Dortmund being Captain and Vice.

In case you don't know, let me enlighten you a bit, the supposed "Big Boys" from Bavaria were actually younger than Dortmund's "Young Guns" if you look at the likely line-ups, the last league match we played one another ^^

Neuer (26)
Lahm (28) - Boateng (23) - Badstuber (23) - Alaba (19)
Kroos (22) - Schweinsteiger (27)
Robben (28) - Müller (22) - Ribery (29)
Gomez (26)
==> 24.8 years average

Weidenfeller (31)
Piszczek (26) - Hummels (23) - Subotic (23) - Schmelzer (24)
Kehl (32) - Gündogan (21)
Kuba (26) - Kagawa (23) - Großkreutz (23)
Lewandowski (23)
==> 25 years average

The likes of Benzema and Higuain will be hitting their 30's so I expect Jese and Neymar to take over them, Sarabia will be better player than Di Maria.
