Sinking Boats
Some big clubs have sink recently. Rangers is the latest to have gone into administration.
Its a shame really.
But, this thread is also for clubs who are somewhere in lower divisions that were top before.
Lets bring all these sinking boats into this thread.
Once a top club. Where are they now?

I can remember when Swindon and Oldham were in the premiership. I believe Bradford was too if my memory serves me correct.

Aye, they were in the Premiership in 2000-01 (had to check on Wikipedia but recalled they've been there in the not-so-distant-past). They've come down a lot since then. A missed chance, maybe, when you look at the monies available there now. A 'sleeping giant' they're called by some, I've heard.

Re: Sinking Boats
Coventry as well. They had a fairly decent team with Dion Donkey Dublin and Darren Huckerby, whatever happened to him, a real talent at one point.
You've got Wimbledon as well who technically dont exist anymore (mk dons, afc wimbledon)
Sheffield wednesday were a mainstay of the prem then dropped down a few leagues.
Possibly biggest of all Nottingham Forrest. I think they finished 3rd in the prem then got relegated the following year.

Re: Sinking Boats
IMHO Milan and Inter are too rich for that category, they'll buy themselves back to top.
Liverpool might've finally been done in by their "loving owners", Rangers are shocking. In Germany, Köln is probably done for the next couple years, they still got a decent revenue from season tickets though.
Once you've been rich in football, it's hard to totally disappear.

Yeah AS Monaco is a sad one. They were in the CL final not long ago.
Another is Villarreal. Hopefully they get promoted back next season.
I wouldn't count Betis in this category. They're back in La liga, and they look like they're getting back to the top with each year. If we do count Betis, then Celta Vigo deserves a shout too.

Re: Sinking Boats
don't forget fiorentina. They had Batigol, Brian Laudrup, Effenberg and Rui Costa. Before that, they had Roberto Baggio. They were always fun to watch.
And that Parma team was goat. Veron and Thuram were on it when Thuram won player of the year in Serie A in 1997.
