Raul was great but he was absent when Spain NT won 2 Euro's and one world cup. its a huge blow for him.

IIRC Raul was Guardiolas best friend in the Spanish NT. And lets not forget that Guardiola was independista, so who knows maybe he didnt think Xavi as a spanish player..

Raul at his peak at Madrid was awesome player, quite sad Owen won the Ballon Dor over him, and if someone says he is the best Spanish player there is nothing wrong as the Spanish team does not have an absolute individual acheiver like Maradona for Argies or Pele for Brazil.
Although as per the thread question for me it is still Luis Suarez. Xavi is not behind though.

It's Iniesta. Spain had great players before(also Raul, Xavi, Casillas together), but couldn't win on international stage. Spain won every tournament since 2006 with Iniesta. Needless to say that he was MoM of WC finals and euro finals.
