From Thiago Silva's AC Milan days I would say Thiago Silva, but I haven't watched him this season at all.

Defending wise, Pepe is a beast, pepe is faster and more physical ... absolutely top 3 defender in the world at least.

Silva has dropped some levels since his milan days so i dont know how to compare

Dropped levels? He is just as good as he was back in the Milan days
tackling,positioning,aerial game Thiago is better at all of those imo.Also much less mistake prone

You don't go to France to be the best in the world.....so that's why I'm gonna say Silva just isn't that anymore.

I don't see the point in comparing him to people anymore , despite the fact he might just be better.

So Thiago is just a good defender now?You cant ignore what he has done in the past 4 years and what he is currently doing in France.It not like he is Russia or Portugal anyway.

I'm saying I've stopped thinking about him and making comparisons to players playing in better leagues. I've done the same for Ibra, I'll judge them on what they do in Cl and that only.

I respect the French League, but as I said , you don't go to France to be the best. I can and will ignore whatever they do in the domestic setting simply because they have by far the most stacked team in french football. Failure would speak more volumes than success.

They will now rely on international football and European competitions for their accolades.

I mean Ibra.. makes sense since he's 31 or so, but Thiago Silva could have gone to Barca or someone.

Silva is better of the two, that Silva of 2010/11 was absolute beast. Pepe is good but I prefer players with higher footballing IQs even if they may not Pepe's physical gifts.

I think that's pretty dumb,put Pepe in Thiago's place then,he would be a pretty meh defender based on CL,big games and international football while ignoring his La Liga form.

If someone like Pepe is the best defender in the world,then defenders have hit an all time low.

Thiago Silva implied he was forced out in a press conference at the Olympics (or a friendly with the NT can remember).

Pepe despite what you say is actually a very good defender. People look at him assaulting guys ,stepping on people ( disgraceful behaviour - yes) and automatically assume him to be a poor defender which is not true at all. he was immense both for madrid and portugal last season, and is actually better than ramos .Physically a brilliant athlete , makes a lot of great tackles as well.

One of his few weaknesses is making rash errors at times which i put down to his impulsive nature.. and whenever he tries to be a ball playing defender lol

still i think thiago silva is better, has been pretty good for psg too i think ..

Im not saying Pepe is a bad defender,I rate him top 5 just not as the best CB.He's good at pretty much everything but as i said earlier,I just see Thiago even better.Mainly because of brainfart mistakes Pepe often makes like that bicycle kick clearance attempt vs Barca and when he lost the ball to Yaya on City's first goal

yeah lol ,as i said pepe is neurotic, making stupid mistakes often, biggest weakness, thats why i rate TS higher..

RM is a counter attack team, there isint a defender and cant be who can shine ..
Marcelo however
