My First Football Game Empty My First Football Game

Post by scotladd Thu Jan 03, 2013 7:42 pm

So being such a new fan, I have never sat down to watch an entire game before. That being said, I think I picked a good one. I watched a replay of El Clasico from 24 June I think it was. I have to say I think it was a helluva choice for a first game. The first two goals I ever saw were from CR7 and Messi respectively. I got to see some flops, some cards and a bad call or two. I did notice that Messi was not out front as much as CR7 was. He wasnt the ballhog I expected to see. I got to see some theatrics, some good challenges as well as a nifty goal or two.

For my first true introduction to the sport I dont think I could have picked a better game.

By "flops" you mean "dives" , right? Americans call it flopping but in Europe the term flop has a different meaning.

One of my favorite matches of recent times was Arsenal vs Barcelona 2010-11 Champions League Quarter final 1st leg at the Emirates. I highly recommend that one. I've got it in high def!

Yessir I do mean "dive". Even for a new fan they were kinda obvious. A bit ridiculous too but meh, seems to be part of the game.

Since you are a Liverpool fan you have to watch the wildly regarded greatest match of all time.

2005 Champions League Final in Istanbul, Turkey.

Liverpool vs. AC Milan

If you haven't already checked online of what happens that game then I recommend you DON'T. Because you want to witness it yourself.

I don't want to give you the score and what happens so I don't ruin it.

Much appreciated! Once I know the outcome, I can't watch a game. Something about watching sports requires some suspension of disbelief.

Off to download it now..

Yep
I would have added the Arsenal-Barca games in 2011 (or '10?) but the second leg where RVP gets red carded just ruins the game, nevertheless Arsenal fought valiantly.

Also the Inter-Barca games of 2010 had a few action packed moments

That being said, after you watch the 2005 CL final, be sure to watch the 2007 one Razz

The 1999 CL final is what could be considered a classic and a good game to watch for most..

United - Milan 2007 CL (first leg)

and I'd also suggest the 2011 first match CL group stage between Barca & Milan
