I'm trying to think of something inflamatory and offensive to kickstart this thread in to debate but other thant "messi needs xavi and iniesta to score" I can't think of anything.

Well Messi did miss that costly penalty against Chelsea...whatever thats worth. On the contrary he did break a record(s?) Got his team through the CDR.

Iniesta had an amazing Euro campaign, was pivotal for his side this year. Achieved the CDR with FCB.

Ronaldo had a good Euro campaign. Was immense for RM the last year, scored the winner in Camp Nou to drive his team for the league title. Got knocked out in the semifinals of the CL.

That it for the candidates i guess

Messi definitely deserves it, but I am kinda hoping that Ronaldo wins it just to cause huge controversy. Messi winning it every time is getting a bit dull Very Happy

All three of them have good arguments to win. But Messi's reputation. I don't think you can go against that. his public image is too untainted, and his playstyle is too exciting.

Tbf If ronaldo does win it, the reaction, comments, quotes that follow would be epic.

I can imagine him doing his "calm down" celebration as he accepts the award.

I think messi should win it because of the fantastic year that he had but it is getting boring with him winning it every year

Am I the only one who thinks Iniesta wins the Ballon D'Or? I just don't see Messi winning it again so soon and Ronaldo was kinda missed when needed the most for both club and country last year. Iniesta was the best player for Spain's historical 3 peat, I think for that alone he gets the vote since a Spanish player has yet to win the award since Spain won the Euro cup against Germany. I think it's time some one from the National Team gets the award

That said a case can be made for all 3 and I think all 3 deserve it for one reason or another

At the time I thought Xavi or Iniesta(even though he missed a lot of Barcas games) might have won it for 2010.But they didn't so I can see Messi winning it again, you have to remember Messi's insane goal scoring record is still fresh in the memory as well.

I think Pirlo deserves it as well, best player in Serie A(Maybe alongside Ibra?) and the best player in the Euros.

Ronaldo lost when the team needed him ? Neutral He was the ultimate big-game player last year.

Not doubt he was a beast, let me rephrase.

IMO, as instrumental as Ronaldo was in Real Madrids league win last year...it can be argued the entire team as a collective was on point and at times Benz, Iker and Ozil were just as good and helping carry the team. he had some clutch games for sure, but also lost a big penatly in the Semis of Champions League and he decided to go last in the Portugal/Spain shoot out and ended up not kicking at all. Not to take away from him, I think all 3 players have a good case to as to why they should and shouldnt win it.

As stated earlier, I think given Spains historical 3peat, I think Iniesta gets the award. But if Messi or Ronaldo win it I think they would also deserve it.

The fact is that neither of them had a perfect season. But IMO Ronaldo was the most decisive.

He wasn't, in fact even close to Messi. Showed here multiple times in multiple threads already.

Ronaldo was decisive for Real Madrid scoring the winner against Barca in Camp Nou, and in many matches in La LIGA and in the Euros
