Pique shouldn't be there, Pirlo for Xabi Alonso, Iker didn't have his best year but then again I can't think of someone definitely ahead of him. Can't see how Falcao is being criticized for being there, Ibra and RVP? Didn't achieve half of what he did last season.

I could name dozen candidates who performed better throughout the 2012 campaign.

Xabi was better than Xavi last season. He had a better season. So if you want Pirlo in. Take Xavi out.

This post shows your intelligence, people voted this team it has nothing to do with Fifa. Please tell me what they would gain out of picking a world 11? Do you know what corruption is? Don't just throw words around because you saw it on tv or something. Last I remember Juventus was found guilty of corruption and Fifa has not!

FYI "innocent until proven guilty"

Clearly, if you don't include Pirlo, then there is something really wrong with you. This is obvious. Since when were you a grammar nazi? And this has nothing to do with 06 btw.

Im Just saying its obvious to everyone how biased this is considering there isn't one player outside of La Liga. Pirlo had more of a reason than Xabi Alonso to be there. Besides this was chosen by 40,000 selected people. We don't know where they are from, who they support, or what bias they have. And Barzagli was part of the team the let up the least amount of goals in Europe, so why does a player like Pique or Ramos ahead of him? They both made it to the Coppa final, won Serie A, and the Euro Final. Just because Spain won, it does not make Xabi or Pique better than Pirlo and Barzagli respectively.

This. If pure stats were taken into account, not popularity or being a superstar, then this would be a real different lineup.

Exactly, what more can a goalkeeper do than concede less and save more. It bemuses me. But I guess it really is a popularity contest for the most part.

Not one Juventus player, nevermind Pirlo we had the best defence and no representatives in the back line.

And no player from the FA cup and CL champions is pretty laughable too.

Yes but over the year Xavi has been better, if you haven't noticed he's been nothing short of outstanding in the 2nd half of 2012.

Also i think it's great Busquets got some reaction, he's a fantastic player and was probably Barca's best midfielder last season....

I wish more defensive players would get recognition.

I would not have either of them there. For last season I would have Pirlo before Xavi and Busquets before Alonso..

Agreed also once again Falcao's inclusion is not laughable.... only RVP and Ibra can claim to be better and its really down to your preference IMO.

A keeper can break a record for the most minutes gone without conceding a goal in international competition. He can maybe win a prestigious international competition. He can perhaps have a great great season (not year - Season).

Don't kid yourself. Buffon is a superstar. He's popular.

You're justifying his inclusion by stats. Statistically De Gea is the best there is, maybe Ter Stegen. But there's a reason you're not calling for them to win it.

Pirlo and Barzagli should be there.

Yeah stats mean little for an outfield player but the surely the TWO main stats for a goalkeeper are shots saved per game and goals conceeded.

I don't know how you can argue a goalkeeper has performed better by conceeding more goals AND making less saves per game than another keeper. It's not like he has a piss poor team infront of him it's Real Madrid.

Nevermind the other stats, those are the two key stats.

Dont know about that. Apart from Messi, Busquets was the only saving grace in Barca last season..

Nah Yaya isn't lol worthy at all, he was outstanding last season and quite frankly as big a reason as any why City won the league coming up with clutch performances again and again.

Yaya was better than both Alonso and Busquets IMO.

Very good line up. La liga is by far the best league in Europe followed by the Bundesliga. Serie A and its corruption is in a dire state and the Premier league is for heathens that can't play football. This is just further proof that beautiful football, the Cruyffian way always wins in the end. Pirlo is several levels below Xavi and plays in as weaker league. Maybe when he wins something of importance.

I am not talking about who is the best player. I'm talking about who deserves their shine.

Yaya would deserve his shine for being an important piece in a winning side.

This is not who is the best player.

@TomJuve- The statistics in terms of save percentage aren't far apart and our team is far less committed to defense. You want stats, Handanovic and these guys murder, you want to base it on stats give me them.

I base it on success and contribution to that success. Anyone that says Casillas wasn't a pivotal part in our La Liga win last year- or that he was in poor form last season, or that he's not part of Spain's success is frankly an idiot.

That's my justification.

You can make your argument for Buffon, i don't watch Juventus and I don't watch Serie A. So I don't know. But don't make it statistical.

I'm sorry the truth hurts. We saw the difference between them at the EUROs final. One was the man of the match, the other was left at the side in melancholy, with enough tears to cure drought.

You seem like a clever poster. I'm guessing you can figure out which was which. Then again you support the most corrupt team in football history proudly...

I remember him being quite inconsistent in the first half of the season, then he came back from an injury an "won" the league for Man City where as Busquets was quite consistently brilliant from the get-go.

but the only reason why I lol'd was because I thought that this world XI was supposed to be a balanced team, not a "dream team" where you only put in the best offensive players. And I know that as an overall player Yaya>>Busquets but as a DM Busquets >> Yaya..

Maybe I was wrong, I dont know if this teams are suppose to be a balanced team or just a "dream team"..

I'm not sure if you believe half of what you write but i'll humour you anyway.

For starters Pirlo had a fantastic tournament where in the first game Vs spain he created Di Natales goal and had a grip on the match. In the final (Where Italy, a day less rested were hit by injuries to the point they had to play with 10 men) spain deserved the victory but in no way was Pirlo himself outclassed in and way, shape or form. What do you expect him to pick up the slack for 8 other exhausted men or something?

Not even most Barca fans would say Xavi is leagues ahead of Pirlo that's just plain bias and stupidity.

As for the cheap shot at Juventus well it's laughable coming from the worlds most famous feeder club in a league that has no importance other than providing the odd talent. I'll happily continue to support Juventus and i'll lose no sleep over the FIGC taking two of our many titles away from us.

But believe me. You do not want to get into this argument as it'll be a complete waste of your time and energy. Especially given that their isn't much room for thought within the GS.
