Swear Sports, I honestly not only share this opinion but endorse it a lot. We would disagree on a couple of things but this one I agree with.

That's not true TDOC... and that's the problem. Juve fans and Serie A fans who have watched him regularly in the past 3 years know how consistent he has been. His only issue has been that he's tired out or gotten injured late in the last 2 seasons because of very busy summers going in (U20 WC and WC)... for once, he's started out a bit slow. You know why? He had nothing to do in the summer FOR ONCE and didn't stay sharp. He'd been playing year round since the summer of 2012 until this summer. BUT, he will find sharpness as he plays and, with the rest, he should finish stronger.

That's the truth if you want it.

He's a brilliant talent but surely you agree calling him better than Lampard/Gerrard on the basis of one great pass is ridiculously OTT even for GL standards.

Yeah, British media overhyping British players make people overlook the fact that England actually produced some great players. And I'm not talking about scrubs like Jack the lionheart and Raheem freaking Sterling. Gerrard, Lampard, Terry, Rio, Cashley, Rooney, Beckham had several world class seasons. These days people drull over a piece of skill pulled by Iniesta while being 3rd/4th wheel for his entire career and the first time he was asked to carry the responsibility on his shoulders failed miserably, but don't recognize the intangibles a superior player like Gerrard brought to Liverpool for more than a decade. One of the most gifted players I've ever seen. I'm not even going to dignify with a comment the Pogba-Gerrard comparasion because it's pathetic.

Not better than Pirlo, but better than Iniesta. Xavi and Pirlo are the best midfielders I've seen along with Zidane. Iniesta is a great player though.

I don't care about a piece of skill. We all go insane in one away or another about X players skill some of the news outlet had 3-5 articles on Messi nutmegging City players, which at times led to nothing, but to think Iniesta is overrated or not among the best, nor Barcelona or Spain would've won as much without him.

English players get so overhyped it's not even funny anymore.

Iniesta and Pirlo don't play the same position... so the comparison isn't good. Xavi and Pirlo? Absolutely. Iniesta was more of a AM/10 and then shifted to a left side AM when Messi became a false 9. So his peer group started out with Zico/Platini (he's not in the same class imo although he's very much great). AMs playing close to sidelines is a new phenomenon... i'd say Iniesta has the standard in that position.

How in the hell are Gerrard and Lampard overrated? yes they didn't perform together for England but that's because we tried to force them together in a 442 lol.

They consistently were one of the best midfielders in the CL each season when English teams actually regularly made the semi final and they have both won the competition lol.

So, lamps & gerrard are overated now? The fact people overate everything british doesnt mean all british players are overated. People forget so quickly tbh, or maybe just choose to ignore the truth to sooth their agendas. For once, not everything is bout technique, as we love to drool over a piece of skill over an actual performance. Lamps & gerrard payed their dues and owe no one any apologies. Look, i dare anyone to give me a better match performance than gerrard in the 05 CL final, in istanbul by a midfielder during the past 10 years, and yes that includes all the so called goat midfielders..maybe some might bring up the france vs brazil game for zidane in 06, but gerrards was in a freaking CL final trailing 3 nil against the best "TEAM" in the world both individually and collectively (kaka, scheva, crespo, nesta, etc) not some washed up has beens for brazil who's best years were clearly/long behind them (carlos, dinho, ronaldo, ze roberto, adriano). And its even worse when u narrow it down to club level.

Not even gonna respond to the Iniesta stuff tbh, anyone who doesn't consider him one of the greatest players of his generation needs their head examined.

Everyone has their opinion...  i was just refuting that Lampard and Gerrard are among the greatest midfielders of the past 20 years.  If they belong there, so does Beckham then and i don't believe that either.  

Let's just throw 10 names out in the past 20 years just off the top of my head that were clearly better...  Zidane, Xavi, Pirlo, Iniesta, Scholes, Vieira, Matthaus, Albertini, Kaka and Deco.

I agree that they were extremely good and probably the 2nd and 3rd best midfielders in the EPL of the past 20 years (Scholes being the best).  But EPL is not known for midfields....  very far from.  Let's not throwing "the world" in there.
