Is the 4-4-2 gone?

For England I think it makes sense we play a 1 striker formation since we only have like 1 elite striker.

Walcott plays on the wings because of Roonay's reputation as a player and Hodgson's managerial incompetence.

Walcott can play any forward position unlike Roonay, that's also a reason for why Walcott plays on the wings rather than Roonay (for England). Walcott is a beast, and one of the best players England has produced in the last 10 years. He is also very young and will continue to improve.

Having said that it doesn't really matter who plays what as long as Hodgson is England's manager. The guy is an idiot when it comes to tactics and lacks any sort of winning mentality.

or the fact rooney is just a better player then walcott upfront, and please rooney has moved out wide many times in United and for England

City use a 4-4-2. A formation should describe the functionality of the system, not 100% reciprocate the position of the player. By the latter method, one could describe Milan's formation as a 2-3-2-2-1...

I hope so, I hate the 4/4/2...
