The issue is far too few teachers care... Otherwise they could do things like this.

Give kids an incentive and they'll do it. Definitely more people need to read again. If you start off a cultural change, it will start coming back, but it needs a passionate generation of teachers who care. Probably won't happen.

With the money teachers make in the US and how they're treated, it's no wonder.

I have often thought of being a teacher. It would be a profession that would give me a lot of joy. I have no idea what I want to be tbh, but that's one of my top choices in terms of careers I could see myself happy in (ignoring financial aspects and all that).

But I've talked to many teachers and...I've never met one who recommends it. At least right now. They love their jobs and they will say so, but I've always been told that unless the situation improves, in terms of making a solid, well thought out, safe career choice...teacher is one of the last on the list. I don't know how it is in other countries, hell in other states (Wisconsin is very good in education but teachers have been a point of conflict recently, new governor 2 years ago was trying to strip away collective bargaining rights or something similar iirc), but I've always been told you really have to truly love teaching to enjoy the job.

I know someone personally, an older brothers ex girlfriend/best friend, and she is becoming a teacher at the moment- perfect girl for it. Always thought she would be a great teacher. And she will be, I think, but she's struggling right now. The road to being one is not even an easy one anymore- especially financially (oh, and then when you finally do become a teacher you're paid like sh*t )

I completely agree with you but to me it's clear that the job market is not in for teachers. The best and brightest minds won't consider it.

I am finishing my degree this year but am looking at doing Masters. I will be applying for Vac work soon too.

Good luck, work exp is the biggest factor in landing a job, depending on what industry your getting into.
