Meh, this never happens in the past, Tata subs Messi to rest him, which is a good thing. I just wanted him on longer to score more

Broke another record today. Most goals in spanish history. 336 goals
Greatest of all time
Call me crazy, I thought he still looks a bit rusty. 2 goals on 7 shots is Ronaldo-esque for him. At his best he would have scored 4 today.

Jupp Heynckes (on Messi) - "He's a genius and is certainly on a par with Maradona and Pele"
Koldo Aguirre (ex-Athletic) - "I thought I had seen the best player in the world: Di Stefano. But now I've changed: Messi is the best."

If barcelona didn't have messi they would not stand a chance in any competition this year..
He gets alot of crap for "being lazy" and shit but fact is he's still delivering when it matters and saving barcelonas ass every game

The Jurgen Klopp is a keen admirer of the talent of both Franck Ribery and Cristiano Ronaldo, who beat the Argentine to the Ballon d'Or last month.
However, he says that the Rosario native has made the biggest impression on him and would move for him if he had the resources.
"I would sign Messi," he is quoted as saying by Sport.
"I also love how Ribery and Ronaldo play, but what Messi does in the pitch is awesome. And he has improved over the years."

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club
Pep Guardiola says Bayern Munich attacker Mario Gotze has still some way to go before comparisons can be drawn between him and Barcelona forward Lionel Messi.
Gotze has caught the eye with impressive performances for Bayern this season following his €37 million switch to the Bavarians in the summer from Borussia Dortmund.
However, the 21-year-old's coach, Guardiola, is cautious of expecting too much from his young star and insists he is not at the same level as the four-time Ballon d'Or winner yet.
"There are no comparisons between him and Messi. Messi is the best player in history," the Spaniard told reporters.
"He is in his first year here, which is not easy, but he has done well, played well.
"He's only 21 and he can still improve. He is already one of the best players in Germany. I try to help him, but Messi is at another level."
Gotze has scored six goals in 17 league appearances for Bayern, while Messi has 14 goals in 18 Liga games for Barca this season.

It's about time he gets back to his normal self. The injury / match rustiness should be past him now. Been a while I've seen him dominate games.

Just saw this, so Messi vomiting during a match isnt abnormal. I have no idea, but does this happen to other players? Is it a quite normal thing? Seems strange...

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club
A report in Spain has claimed Manchester City are willing to meet Lionel Messi’s Barcelona buyout clause and Messi is open to the move.
El Confidential have said City will attempt to take advantage of Messi’s unhappiness with his contract and the current negotiations, which have not gone smoothly, as well as Messi’s tax case and the way it was covered in the Spanish Press.
The potential departure of Tata Martino as Coach this summer has also been cited as a factor in Messi’s growing discontent while it is said his Barcelona teammates recently called on him to put more effort into matches and training, which didn’t sit well with the Argentina forward either.
Messi, it is claimed, feels there would be less intense pressure on him in Manchester than there is in Barcelona.
The report goes on to say that both City and Paris Saint-Germain have spoken with Jorge Messi, the player’s father and agent, although a move to PSG is complicated by France’s 75% high earners’ tax rate.
If Messi was to move to the Etihad Stadium, he would earn €25m per season, it is said.
