Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club
A report in Spain has claimed Manchester City are willing to meet Lionel Messi’s Barcelona buyout clause and Messi is open to the move.
El Confidential have said City will attempt to take advantage of Messi’s unhappiness with his contract and the current negotiations, which have not gone smoothly, as well as Messi’s tax case and the way it was covered in the Spanish Press.
The potential departure of Tata Martino as Coach this summer has also been cited as a factor in Messi’s growing discontent while it is said his Barcelona teammates recently called on him to put more effort into matches and training, which didn’t sit well with the Argentina forward either.
Messi, it is claimed, feels there would be less intense pressure on him in Manchester than there is in Barcelona.
The report goes on to say that both City and Paris Saint-Germain have spoken with Jorge Messi, the player’s father and agent, although a move to PSG is complicated by France’s 75% high earners’ tax rate.
If Messi was to move to the Etihad Stadium, he would earn €25m per season, it is said.

200 million is a lot of money. I would actually consider this! Spend 100 mill for defense and mid. I think if we fix defense and have a good sub for Xavi, the attack with Alexis, Pedro and Neymar could do good for a season until Deulofeu gets to the required heights.
But this is all media crap.

I don't think Barca need that many new players. Right now they just need a CB and a mid. Those 2 can be bought without selling Messi.

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club
That players should be bought even if Messi doesn't leave.(he won't leave for sure). IMO you need 2 CBs, a LB, a CM and striker who has good heading and finishing, is tall and strong.

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club
Except that the 200m will probably go directly into rebuilding the stadium let alone it wont even cover the full price, much less half.. and even if we did put it into the squad.. we'd overspend on useless players such as David Luiz for 2x his actual value.eelir wrote:200 million is a lot of money. Messi leaving Barcelona would only be and admittance that the era of dominance is over.
you can sell Messi but his replacement will never be better, kinda like the Dani Alves argument where we can cash in now but would only make us worse.

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club
Messi's buyout clause is 250M, but that doesn't include taxes!
Thiago for example had 18M buyout clause, but Bayern paid 25M (including 5 in variables) to avoid taxes and keep a good relationship with Barcelona etc..
So, City will have to pay more than 250M!
Won't and shouldn't happen... Although, 250+Aguero isn't bad

Sry if this has been posted somewhere already.
Is it the burgers or the growth-hormones that's making him sick?
Sry if this has been posted somewhere already.
Barcelona star Lionel Messi has been to see medical experts after vomiting during recent matches.
Messi, 26, was sick on the field during Argentina's midweek draw in Romania.
"Something is not right, but it doesn't affect his performance. It happens to him regularly," said Barcelona boss Gerardo Martino before Saturday's match at Valladolid.

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club
Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has laughed off suggestions that his side could make a move for Lionel Messi in the summer.
Reports in the Spanish Press this week claimed that the Premier League team could bid for the Blaugrana superstar at the end of the season, with his future at Camp Nou said to be in doubt.
Stories emerged that the Citizens were willing to meet Messi’s buyout clause, but when asked about the news by journalists this afternoon, the Chilean tactician said: “Just rumours.”
He did however, comment on his two-match suspension following comments made after the 2-0 loss to Barcelona, in which in questioned the Swedish referee’s integrity.
“I don't think I deserve three games or two games. I said two days after in my Press conference that I was wrong in the way I did it but I continue saying that it was not a penalty and that it decided the game, in a bad day [for the referee]
“But I don't want to continue and if they decide that is the punishment for me, I will see what I am going to do in future.”

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club
Lionel Messi has said he doesn’t want to stop at being Barcelona’s all-time record goal scorer.
The Argentina forward scored a hat-trick as Barca beat Osasuna 7-0 on Sunday and his first goal took him level with Paulinho Alcantara’s 369 goals, friendlies included.
Messi surpassed Paulinho with the two that followed as Barca scored seven in an emphatic win.
Speaking to reporters after the match, Messi said he was happy to set a new standard at Camp Nou but warned he wouldn’t rest on his laurels.
“[Becoming all-time top scorer] is impressive. There was a lot of talk about it, now I have it. And now we continue, there are other goals,” Messi said.
“I'm feeling good. I'm getting back after my injury, caught the rhythm, have more confidence. I think I have fully recovered now.”

Only third (with Pele and McGrory) player to score 300 goals in 6 seasons in club level, competitive games.

I'm 32 years old. This isn't a knee jerk as I have held this opinion for years now.
Lionel Messi is the best player I have ever seen play football and he is the single most dominant player in any sport right now.
In the biggest game of the year for Barca he scored 3 goals had an assist and the pass for Neymar's penalty which was out of this world and just insane.
And he is supposed to be in a down spell. LOL, it's also obvious he's still not 100% but close to it so he did this not being 100% fit.
Wow just wow.
