Why do people think Klopp is better than Wenger?

Dortmund are 20 points behind Bayern in a League not nearly as strong as the PL yet he gets a pass.

Do they? Who?

Well, I don't know if he is, but his team is in the champions league final and winning back to back league titles the last two years may give people that impression.

Yeah but not in a long time. He reminds people of Wenger when he was younger I'm assuming. Managers as they get older sometimes loose their touch just like players do

If we're talking about currently/recently, Klopp is better than Wenger.

In fact I'm sure there's a lot of better managers than Wenger.

Wenger hasn't won anything in 8 years and he's living off what he's achieved in the past.

Yeah, if anyone IS to replace Wenger soon, I would love for it to be him, but honestly I don't see it happening. I just can't see him leaving dortmund next summer

Why would Klopp go from one selling club that at least has ambition to a selling club that has none?

Kloppo will likely fullfill his contract till 2016, as he also fulfilled his contract at Mainz despite having lots of lucrative Bundesliga offers even when Mainz was still in the 2nd BL.

Well, Jürgen Klopp definitely managed to build a competitive team with near to no funds as he took over when Dortmund was barely recovering from a total financial collapse.

When he arrived, Dortmund was at the 13th place in the BL. Then he brought them to the 6th place in 08/09, barely missing the Europe League, then finishing 5th, getting into the EL (albeit with little success in the first attempt), following two consecutive Bundesliga wins, and while crashing out of the CL in 2011/12, they are now in the final. So you could say Klopp was on a steep upward learning curve during his time in Dortmund.

If you compare this with Arsene Wenger, the latter didn't really move forward with his team during the last seasons.

Of course one has to take into account that in German a coach usually is right that: a "Fußballlehrer" (literally "football teacher"), while the business with buying and selling players is done by a separate person (the Sportdirektor or Manager). Kloppo's job is mainly coaching the team, while Wenger is coach and manager in personal union. (That's why people shouldn't call a German coach "manager" as that is usually another person.)

Trophies is what counts. If a coach isn't winning anything then how can he be better than someone who is winning trophies? At the end of it's all about trophies.

Just because Wenger has been at Arsenal forever doesn't have to mean he's automatically an elite coach.

Wenger is a great coach because he gets a ton out of what he has and his players are often improving.

Results are not 100% under his control believe it or not.

If you think only the teams with elite coaches win and only the coaches who are elite win, then your horribly wrong.

Playing good football is irrelevant, noone mentioned it.

Wenger does deserve credit for his scouting, turning players into superstars etc, however he isn't winning trophies.

I'm sure Arsenal's target is to win the EPL, not to finish 4th every year. Surely there's Arsenal fans out there who are discontent because Arsenal aren't winning trophies.

I'm not saying only teams with elite coaches/only elite coaches win, I'm just saying Wenger isn't elite currently. Results are the primary thing in football and Wenger hasn't won anything/progressed in 8 years.

It could be Arsenal's fault for not giving him enough funds etc, however it isn't impossible to do better than what he's doing currently with the squad he has.

Get real, if anything he knows more...the only difference is he dont have Henry, he has Giroud...he dont have Bergkamp, he has Podolski...dont have Pires, he has Walcott..and I could go on for at least half a dozen more.

Wenger didnt "decline", he aint a player. He just has worse tools.

I'm actually very curious what Jürgen Klopp will do next season. After all, atm he did lose the best player every year, too, and still he is fighting for the top (last two BLs, this time a fighting chance in the CL).

Moreover, the fact that he really gets the best out of his boys is pretty amazing - look at Nuri Sahin and Shinji Kagawa who were not as good abroad than at Dortmund. Especially with Sahin it is telling - now that he is back at Dortmund, he is rapidly improving again.

Klopp won titles when they lost Sahin and he's replaced him with someone who's probably better in Gundogan. I know Dortmund haven't won the CL, however they're in the final when they lost Kagawa last year.

Maybe Wenger just hasn't been good enough in terms of replacing players or developing players to replace the ones that already left.

Him having worse tools is partly down to him not developing players like he previously has done.

Coaches can decline too. They may not be getting the results, their tactics may be falling apart etc etc which could result in them being sacked/leaving.

Arsenal are only keeping Wenger because he's 'part' of Arsenal. Any other top team would have sacked their coach in 2-3 years of not winning a trophy. 8 years is way too long.

Yes Arsenal aren't what they were before, however they're still a top club. If Arsenal's strategy is to develop players and make them good enough to win things, then Wenger hasn't been good enough to do that in the past 8 years.
