english_jewel wrote:Blue wrote:english_jewel wrote:Man we're f***ed next season. OK so say we sign Modric:
Malouda---Torres----Sturridge
Modric-----Ramires---Lampard
Subs: Mceachran, Anelka, Kalou, Kakuta, Drogba, Lukaku, Zhirkov, Mikel, Essien......
Too many under-performers there. Not enough creativity. Same problems as last season. Also if we use 4-3-3 do we keep Malouda on the left flank after all we won't be getting Neymar or Sanchez?? And if one of them gets injured who's going to be decent enough to replace them? Plus Torres will have the SAME issues as last season because there will be no one creating for him and because he can't work in a 4-3-3. We'll need to sign Moutinho for the midfield but we will still be goners.
Scratch the 4-3-3 and play the diamond, it seems to be our only hope.
next year our midfield will be alright provided, they will create more chances no doubt. Torres will play better as long as we don't experiment the Torres- Drogba partnership. Sturridge will cut in from the right and score goals and create for others. Hopefully we sign somebody for the left side or give Kakuta a chance because i can't stand another year of Malouda.
Yeah but aren't you concerned about the lack of options we'll have on the bench for midfield and attack?
Modric will not be our only signing, we just have to wait and see who else we sign.
At first i thought we were going to overpay massively for Modric but Spuds have basically screwed themselves and now Modric staying is not even option.

Re: The Official Luka Modric Thread
Ramires, Mikel, Mceachran, Kakuta, Essien, Malouda, lampard, Benayoun, Zhirkov
9 Midfilders and were in crisises in that department..surely something is not right. Looking at those players i see no playmaker except Mceachran and Kakuta whom are not ready yet because of our weakness to nature young talent and lampard cannot be played week in week out anymore modric or another playmaker is defintely needed

Say we sell Anelka Zhirkov and Kalou.
LW: New Signing/ Malouda/ Kakuta?
CF: Torres/ Drogba/ Sturridge/ Lukaku?
RW: Sturridge/ Benayoun
AM: Pastore? /Benayoun
CM: Lampard/ McEachran/ Essien/ Ramires/ Moutinho?/ Modric?
DM: Mikel/ Essien
If we send Kakuta out on loan (bad Move IMO), don't buy Lukaku we'll just need one of Pastore Modric or Moutinho and we'll have enough players. If kakuta isn't ready, Keep Kalou for another year and loan out Kakuta. Kalou would be our super sub along with McEachran.
Now that you spell it out it doesn't look bad.
I have a feeling we should buy Moutinho along with Modric because he is very versatile plus aguia (who we must believe since he can't be biased as he supports Benfica) says he is creative. I was concerned before that we might lack a DM but we have Mikel and Essien for that and during the AFCON we can play Ramires there.

Mate come on they are 19 or less, what can you expect from them? However, yes I agree we need to give them more chances and AVB will probably will.

The title of the thread is misleading, we will be talking about Modric for awhile so we should rename the thread "the official Modric thread."

But he can't start all of them, eventually he will have to slow down, I see that happening this season or next.

Yes, which is why I see it happening this season.
If only Josh was 2 years older he could almost directly replace Lampard.

Re: The Official Luka Modric Thread
Lamps can play for around 3 more years if he is rested properly and used properly.
Re: The Official Luka Modric Thread
i see josh more a deep lying playmaker rather than b2b thats why i have been against modric for a long time

Re: The Official Luka Modric Thread
Lampard has two years left on his contract, so i believe he will retire once his contract ends.
Kakuta or Piazon imo is more likely to be Lampard successor.
Luka Modric hands in transfer request.
I hope we sign him soon because this transfer saga is getting boring.

Moutinho can also be a deep lying playmaker, I don't see the difference between him and Modric.
party time for me if Modric has actually handed in a transfer request!!

No way are we giving Sneijder 200k PW!
Much rather we get Modric and Moutinho for about the same wages.
