Davids hails Juventus’ midfield

Juventus have the most competitive midfield in the European game, insists former player Edgar Davids.

The Old Lady are blessed with playmaker Andrea Pirlo, Claudio Marchisio, Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba.

The quartet were assembled for only around €11m in terms of transfer fees as Marchisio is home-grown, while Pirlo and Pogba joined at the end of their contracts with Milan and Manchester United respectively.

“Juventus have the strongest midfield in Europe,” the former Dutch international, who spent seven years in Turin, stated.

Davids has been particularly impressed with 20-year-old Pogba, now a French international, and Vidal – the latter a player who has been likened to the former Ajax man himself.

“Pogba is an extraordinary talent,” the 40-year-old player Coach of Barnet continued

“Vidal, meanwhile, is a champion who can grow further and become a phenomenon. I hope to one day find him amongst the Juventus legends – as he has the ability to become one.”
