Witcher 2 combat while not exactly a staple of RPG action games is miles better than the first game and from the gameplay I have seen of 3 it looks miles better than 2.

I'm not hating on it - if you had actually read my post you would have noticed that I was giving CDR a pass on the massive graphics downgrade and that it was hinting at the level of control Microsoft and Sony have over devs.

My snarky comment on the combat (Which is actually true) was just a response to your snarky comment about which could be interpreted as "who the hell cares about the amount of power MS and Sony are exercising over devs".

It's not just graphical features that are being held back by this new parity paradigm.

I'm just being cynical because the last open world game that got hyped to oblivion was not that great (GTA V)

Well yeah. If a gameplay holds up it's much more important. Of course graphics are a reason, but it's not like great graphics means anything to a game's quality, it's just an added bonus if everything else is good.

Just look at Destiny, amazing graphics, have great gameplay (imo) but get's hate because of story. Graphics is generally just the last element of importance, for me atleast.

Also generally I bought ps4 because.
1. my friends moved.
2. Better online opponents in online games.
3. Better catalogue of games.
4. Better gameplay than ps3.

And Mole, the graphics downgrade is huge. We went from the next gen 2013/2014 demonstrations to something that on a technical level isn't much better than Witcher 2.



Destiny doesn't get hate because of the story, Destiny gets hate because it wasn't the game that was advertised.

Also besides why are you surprised? The game is split into one massive open world and 4 smaller but still large areas.

The massive open world in question makes Skyrim's look like a small puddle by comparison.

Witcher 2 on PC was a benchmark game which pushed GPU's and DX9 to their limit. Witcher 3 is a DX11 game with every major Dx11 feature removed entirely from the game which doesn't tax GPU's. The surprising part is CDR didn't just include the advancements they made in the PC version and dropped them entirely because if you look at the performance of Witcher 3 on PC is not because of optimization.

Whether it's open world or not doesn't affect graphical fidelity as much as you'd like to believe. It's entirely dependant on how good the memory management is coded in. Funny that you should mention Skyrim, another game hyped to oblivion but not as good as its predecessors (and terrible memory management while we're on the subject)

Still talking about these "Graphical Downgrades"?

Most games that are shown at shows like E3 are shown on high-end PCs, when the game gets closer to release date, actual gameplay on the consoles are shown.

Of course there is a downgrade. I don't get what the issue is.

Also, of course the next-gen consoles don't compete with PCs in terms of next-gen. As the PS3 has shown, consumers are looking for something easy, affordable and runs without them having to do much.

At the beginning of the game you are asked questions about decisions made in Witcher 2, which is how they effect the world state and carries the decisions over.

Without actually playing it, you wouldn't have a clue what they are asking you. So basically explains what the decisions were and how they effected the world in general.

It's good they took the Mass Effect route with decisions carrying over. Don't think my Witcher 2 save file on 360 can be imported to PS4 in any way.

And I agree with Freeza on graphics. I bought PS4 this March after getting a great deal. I played Far Cry 4, Advanced Warfare, Black Flag, MGS 5, Watch Dogs etc all on last gen because I don't care about the graphics. It's only because games like Bloodborne, Arkham Knight, Witcher 3 which are not available on last gen did I get the PS4. That and all my online friends upgrading.

How many posts have you made on this game in comparison to others? Before release?

This game is your baby. I'm starting to think you are more anticipated for this game than Batman and I know how much you love Batman.

I will admit i haven't been this hyped for a game since Red Dead Redemption

There is a good deal from tesco which lets you pre-order two games for £70 so I got MGS5 and Witcher 3 on pre-order.

Might come on wed/thurs though since it's standard delivery

But I'll play it after I finish Type-0.
