It's probably too late to get a striker in now. All well and good saying we should go all out for Muriel or Benteke, but clubs won't sell unless they can bring in a replacement. With two and a half hours to go, that's very unlikely.

That's probably true. Alternatively, they probably had no intention of loaning/selling us Ba and strung us along all window just to make things difficult.

How is this charity? We would pay them a loan fee, the guy would be playing at a higher level instead of Serie B and Palermo won't have to pay his wages. They also must have a replacement for him if they intended to sell in deadline.

They were prepared to sell him Surag. This is all pointless though, Nicky B is like a new signing.

So this summer we needed a keeper, a defender (right back or centre back), a defensive midfielder, an attacking midfielder (wide or central) and a striker.

What we got: Viviano, Flamini

What we should be getting: Ozil

I guess it's an acceptable summer, overall.

No way it'd be Shaw. Southampton have him tied down to a long-term deal and would hold out for more than £12mil. We don't need a left back, either.

It could be Schneiderlin, since they've got Wanyama and didn't want to sell Cork.

Wouldn't surprise if it was Lambert, though. Or Jay Rodriguez. Laughing
