why are muniesa or fontas better than varane?

Look, it's my own opinion, they are all kids, i have hardly ever seen fontas and muniesa, but even if we were talking kids of similar talent level, i would rate Varane higher. simply because he played top flight football in a very tough and physical league, and did more than standing out. Not because of his age, although it's impressive, but because of how well he was performing his tasks.

we can go back and forth with this, it's not gonna get us anywhere, you guys will be biased about your youth, and will be the same with Varane.

The point is, critics only arise on the issue because there is a lack of knowledge about the kid. I am only taking the time here to give my perspective, not to engage in a trench fight.

We bought Varane because our scouting department saw something very special in him. The combination of his athleticism, with his ability to read the game and keep his composure at all times, given his age, had us believe that he was a very unique boy, and we signed him. We were going to replace Carvalho by next year, we did it now.

I wasn't trying to start anything or be biased, you said he was better and I was asking why

Coentrao is good signing, now they have Marcelo and Coentrao on the LB. For club it is good to have 2 very good players on one position, for players it is not, becouse they will play less. €30M is to much for the bench player if you ask me, but if they have money, well better for them. Even we are going to pay €30M or moe for the bench player (Fabregas, Sanchez, Rossi).

Same thing for Sahin, he is bought like Mascherano, for bench.

It is new era of football, before top teams had 11 A class players + few B class players and other were C class. Now top teams tend to have 15+ A class players, and B class other players.
dude Callejon is far better player than bojan ever will be lol,he actually full filled his potential and returned to his own club unlike bojan who will always remain as a player who didnt full filled his potential due to unknown reason lol.Callejon is 21,bojan is 21.

This thread was never ever going to turn out well and honestly wasn't necessary to begin with.

Seems to me like there's alot of grabbing and pulling in this thread if you get my drift.....

People shouldn’t be that sensitive. At least since there are no insults in this thread.
After all it is only by the end of the season that one can be proved right or wrong.

As for the topic Sahin seems a great addition.
Altintop wasa great when he started but after all those injuries seems a little “meh” to me.
Calejon IMO will be used as much as Leon was used last season but he wasn’t signed for a first 11 player anyway.
I don’t know much about Varane to pass judgment but he can prove to be of high value in the long run.

Finally the big question is Coentrao. Great player for sure but where is to be used?
If Mou uses him on the right and he actually performs Madrid would have another great signing.
On the other hand if he is to rotate with Marcelo this would be plain idiotic considering the 30m price tag

They have the qualities to play either position.
Fact is they haven’t done it yet.

If they are used like this indeed and succeed you will have one of the stronger full back duos out there.
If not it will be just a waste of money.

Let’s see. In any case not having Carvalho in the starting 11 is always nice for me (I view him as the rock of your defense last season) Smile

Callejon is a bad player. Not even good as a Madrid sub.
Callejon is better, faster, more versatile than Leon ever going to be.
Altintop is average, IMO doesn't improve their bench either (P. Leon).
He was brought because of versatility, he can play as defender to midfielder.
Varane, never heard of him before they signed him. I doubt that if he is good enough for Madrid if he escaped the radar of all other european clubs.
Lool, nice one, you just showed how little you know outside barcelona, He was linked with Manchester United and Chelsea.
Coentrao is a stupid signing as a LB, and a big gamble if they signed him to play as RB or in the wings (RB untested, in the wings he failed at Zaragoza).
Ever heard a word of a improvement?, I call this one "wait and see", he can surprise us.
Sahin is the only player that looks like a very good signing, but we'll see.
We shall see indeed.

You just showed how little you know outside Madrid with your rating of Callejón. Callejón is a mediocre player, not even the best at Espanyol (Osvaldo, Marquez and Verdu are better). He can't driblle, average passer and has mediocre finishing. He is only fast and has a good shot. I thought Madrid bought him to resell him. Dumb if they keep him.

There are like 10 wingers better than Callejón, and no, by no means Callejón is better than Bojan.

He was bought to be as backup you know, average passer, faster than Leon and good shooting abilty, sounds good for a backup winger, dont you think? Oh and please do not use my own words against me, I was right about Callejon and Varanes part.
Besides, Callejons contract was twice as cheap as P.Leon one was, still quite a bargain eh?

Yes, he will be a bargain until the moment that you need him. When that happens, Callejón won't be there and will prove he is a terrible signing. Really, a very average player.

Why are you guys questioning our transfers?

Why did you buy Villa? you had a world class striker in Ibra

Why did you buy Masch? You had busquets and keita

Why Sanchez? Pedro isnt good enough for you?

Why Adriano? Hes no better than Maxwell or Abidal

We bought villa, because ibra didn't fit into the system and we were much more predictable.
Why did you buy Masch? You had busquets and keita
Keita isn't really a DM, so we only had 1 DM after we sold yaya
Why Sanchez? Pedro isnt good enough for you?
Atm we only have 4 players for 3 position(messi, afellay, pedro and villa), that's not good enough
Why Adriano? Hes no better than Maxwell or Abidal
I have no idea

I thought Pep bought him because Ibra was the right person for barcas system, guess I was wrong then.

Adriano was bought because of his versatility and his ability to play anywhere on the wings. He has proved to be a great addition to the squad

We question the transfers because it seems like most of the buys made are solely because of the flavor of the month and not actual need for replacement.

Interesting purchases from the rivals.

As of now, none of their signings look to me like they're for the starting eleven.
Sahin, perhaps, but playing him in a three-man midfield means dropping one of Di Maria or Ozil, or playing without a striker. Both seem very unlikely options for Jose Mourinho. Especially so in a big match.
It's more likely to me that he'll be used in rotation with Alonso and Khedira in the 4-2-3-1 formation (that is, if he isn't there to replace either of them).
