Re: 'Barca philosophy is untouchable' - Xavi
Yeah, one bad loss after our coach was away with cancer and having problems with our attackers not scoring even if their life depended on that, and we should completely change the pyholosphy that brought us so many trophies in several years.ioilersrock448 wrote:

BTW read what i wrote earlier (the one in bold):
eelir wrote:I agree with Xavi if we take into account also Barca from before Pep. Barca are attacking, trying to get the ball in the opponent's half, and occasionally braking in counter which is by no means against Barca's philosophy. The only point where I think we are moving from it a bit is Valdes' long shots.
Also, Pep was tinkering with the team each and every season. Only fools never change, the trick is to change enough to be dangerous, but to keep the core thing that you value.

No. In 1994 European final, Cruyff Barcelona got murdered by Capello Milan 4-0, which is I believe the biggest if not one of the biggest defeat in a European/CL final. That didn't stop Barca and they sure as hell didn't have to change their philosophy of course adjustments get made depending on coaches, and also depend on the players who you have at your disposal may play a hand in seeming as it change, but its remained the same. There is no reason to change it after the game with BM, if anything that should serves as a wake up call, and reawaken the players hunger for success again.ioilersrock448 wrote:Perhaps the philosophy should be changed rather than beating your head against a brick wall?eelir wrote:Ok. What does this have to do with the OP?1991 wrote:
The thing is Cruyff Barcelona was great, but it had its weakness, which got later exposed. LvG eventually covered those weakness, however they weren't to strong in European competition, after him we went thru some tough years a long came Rijkaard who made his adjustment once Rijkaard team started fading Pep came in and worked on the weakness Rijkaard team had and now since Pep has left we have yet to cover the weakness showing from his side, but Tata is trying with the players, resources he has.

Barca's philosophy hasn't changed. A philosophy change would be them playing pure counter-attacking or switching to 4-4-2 or something. They're just adding different things to the current style to make them less predictable.
In terms of vs Bayern, they barely had a coach and weren't playing properly. That team shouldn't be associated with Pep's Barca.

Why is it so hard to admit that bayern was miles ahead of barcelona last year? As it was against Juve (they scored a clear offside goal vs Juve and no one was complaining because it was a deserved win for the superior team, no doubt) ...
Barcelona had like 2 goal scoring chances in 180 minutes, while bayern were superior in every aspect, as it showed on the scoreline... Barcelona was outplayed tactically and physi cally it was a joke ...

No one id denying that! But, you cannot judge Barcas team based on last years game with BM. Barca had some non-football related troubles troubles beside the others and you cant take those two games as a indicator of the success of Barcas philosophy and conveniently forget about the success that was achieved (even) not so long ago.Ion Creanga wrote:Why is it so hard to admit that bayern was miles ahead of barcelona last year? Bayern were not only better than Barcelona, they were better than any other team last season.
Bayern would have gone past Barça even if the Catalans didn't have coach issues, injuries, poor refereeing and so forth. But the aggregate result wouldn't have been 7-0 but something much more even.

I'm not denying Barca's quality, but the same team that had troubles with the coach won La Liga with 100 points, right? ... I agree it's not a matter of philosophy, cause any other team at that time that would have met that bayern in a double leg would have been destroyed with any philosophy, that's how strong they were..eelir wrote:No one id denying that!
