I'm surprised at how many people picked 2011 over 2009. I personally thought it was an easy choice o_O

People who are picking 2009 are clueless... 2011 was far superior. Went through a significant dip in form, but at their peak they were out of this world.

Actually they were best during the end of 2010. This is when they brushed aside Villareal, Levante 8-0 and Madrid 5-0. That was the best football I've seen in my life. The '09 team was never that dominant... but its popular among non-Barca fans to say that Pep's teams have gotten worse since then.

2012's season hasn't ended yet. Usually team comparisons include player comparisons because it's impossible to compare two different eras. But in Barca's case the opponents are the same, the tactics are very similar, and the core players are still the same. The end result is that this is compared by how many titles each team wins. The comparison is premature because the season is not over yet. If we win against Chelsea and win the CL in 2012 people will hold this team in much higher regard than if we go out, even though the team itself may not be any weaker because of that.

2011 by far.

2009 was the best, then 2011, then 2010, and then current. Right now Messi is better than hes ever been, but hes relied on too much for scoring all their goals this season, whereas the other seasons had him and 1 or 2 others scoring tons of goals as well.

I've been saying 2009 is the best team for a while now. Some of you have to remember that it was the first year in Pep's system so many of the players didn't have the benefit of years in the system like 2010, 2011, 2012.

I feel we rely too much on Messi these days and Eto'o was easily a top 5 player in the world his last year at Barca scoring 30 goals in 36 games in La Liga while Messi still put up his crazy stats and Iniests and Xavi were out of this world as well. IMO that is 4 of the top 5 or 6 best players in the world that year.

Not to mention Eto'o like Messi was one of the ultimate big game players. Yaya was incredible and Henry/Pedro was great as well. And our defense while probably not as solid as today were very underrated. We did shut down Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez with a make shift backline and Yaya starting in defense.

I think people tend to forget we were not favorites in that CL final and we demolished one of the better teams of the last decade in Man U with an attack of Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez plus the likes of great players in Giggs and Scholes, Carrick and a healthy Vidic and Ferdinand in defense with the other regulars in the team.

The Man U team we beat in the last final was not even close to as good as that team IMO.

Plus Xavi, Iniesta and the crew were younger and fresher.

The teams the last two years do have better tactics but from a player standpoint I don't think it's even close. Especially this year, the 2009 team would mop the floor with our team this year, I mean we struggle to get another forward to score 20 goals, Eto'o did that in his sleep his last year with us.

Not to mention we were a much faster team team. We are more deliberate these days and there's nothing wrong with that but I just think we were hungrier back then, no other team has achieved what 2009 did, and that's a fact you can't ignore.

The way I look at it is all those Barca sides simply annhilitate the competition. So in terms of productivity and winning they are all up there.

BUT there is another category to, and it is the reason that people watch football: Entertainment.

That 2009 Barca side was unbelievably entertaining and so fresh to watch. The pace was quick and the hunger they played with was there for all to see. No Barca side I've seen plays as good football as that 2009 side. That 09 side won everything there was to win as well.

2009 seems better by a large margin because back then no one parked the bus against us and thus we seemed more dominant. After Hiddink's match this became the rule against Barca. The difference between 2011 and 2009 was not as big as some people claim.
