Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Former Bayern Munich head coach Jupp Heynckes thinks the club have secured "a golden future" and will dominate German football for years to come.
Bayern claimed an historic treble last season under Heynckes before he was replaced by Pep Guardiola, who has gone on to seal the Bundesliga title in record time, with Tuesday's 3-1 win over Hertha Berlin securing their crown.
Heynckes believes the Bavarians have moved well beyond the reach of their nearest domestic counterparts and will prove untouchable for some time under the "excellent" Guardiola.
"They have the best squad in Europe, so also the world," he told Kicker.
"I cannot see competition far and wide in the Bundesliga. They have secured a golden future.
"[After 2012] we went in new directions and pledged to absolute top performers: Dante, [Mario] Mandzukic, [Javi] Martinez, [Claudio] Pizarro, [Xherdan] Shaqiri and [Tom] Starke. Two outstanding footballers were then added in [Mario] Gotze and Thiago, and an excellent coach like Guardiola."
Switzerland boss Ottmar Hitzfeld, who coached Bayern in two spells in the late 1990s and the 2007-08 season, believes the current Bayern squad is the strongest ever - but admits the Bundesliga has now lost some of its appeal as a competition.
"Munich has pretty much always occupied the top spots with 11, 12 top players, but never 17 or 18," he said.
"The distance between the giants and the rest of the league is too big. The Bundesliga is losing some of its charm."

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
M99 wrote:Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp hinted Bayern Munich could be set to dominate the Bundesliga like never before after Tuesday's title triumph.
Bayern wrapped up the German league title with a 3-1 win at Hertha Berlin, after second-placed Dortmund were held to a scoreless draw in the Revierderby by Schalke.
Dortmund coach Klopp claimed Bayern had 'demolished' the Bundesliga this season, after the Bavarian club moved 25 points clear with seven games remaining, and joked that his team 'need a telescope' to see Pep Guardiola's side.
"It's unbelievable how you have demolished [the Bundesliga] because we see you, but actually need a telescope," Klopp said.
"This was a fantastic achievement, congratulations for the championship."
Since the Bundesliga began in the 1963-64 season, Bayern have been the most successful club, winning their 24th title on Tuesday.
Die Roten have won three league titles in a row on three occasions in the early 1970s, mid 1980s and turn of the millennium.
But with Klopp's attitude of resignation that Dortmund - who won the Bundesliga in the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons - are well behind Bayern, it seems Guardiola and the Bavarians are set for another long period of success.
Dortmund's best striker Robert Lewandowski is set to join Bayern next season, joining Mario Gotze in moving from North Rhine-Westphalia to Bavaria.
Arguably Bayern's best decade was in the 1980s with the club winning seven titles from the 1979-80 season to the 1989-90 campaign.
Klopp seems to believe Bayern are again consistent enough to challenge the 1980s generation that included Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Lothar Matthaus and Klaus Augenthaler.
"It's so impressive," Klopp said.
"You have to tip your hat to Bayern's consistency on the field of play and their absolute desire."
Completely misleading due to erroneous translation.
If I'm not mistaken the word Klopp used which is translated as 'demolished' is 'abreissen',
i.e. "Unglaublich was ihr da abgerissen habt".
Abreissen means 'tear off', but Klopp means it like 'herunterreissen', 'tear down', informal for 'finish/get someting done in a especially fast way'.
So no, Klopp didn't say Bayern demolished the Bundesliga.

Well, German is a difficult language and many online publications seemingly love to just run a translation program over German articles, leading to such erroneous translations...

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Yep, but I guess they're relying on press agencies to do the work for them, so if those get it wrong it spreads everywhere.
Anyway what Klopp said was "Incredible what you've pulled off there" and not "Unbelievable how (?) you demolished [the Bundesliga]".

Well, if I look at Goal.com articles, they seem to rely on Google translate and C+P from whatever they get their hands on ^^

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
lol, that is very possible
but we have to cut the online journos some slack, they have to publish stuff more or less hourly and I'm sure they're not handsomely compensated.
Problem is of course that this leads to so much text spam floating around..

Ridiculous team. They literally control every game they step into. If they don't retain the cl it would be a shame. Can't think of any club that has had so much in their favour.

Ilkay Gündogan will sign a 1 year extension with Dortmund is the latest rumour in Germany. This way his contract with Dortmund ends in 2016. Suits both sides.

really? that would be good news, as I think it would be very stupid of Gündogan to move now, with this kind of wasted season as baggage.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Due to the fact that by now 12 of their starters are missing (most because of injuries, the newest one youngster Kaan Ayhan; while Kevin-Prince Boateng is suspended), Schalke 04 will host Hertha BSC today with an additional number of Schalke U19 and U23 players called-up to the squad: Philipp Max (20, LB), Dennis Erdmann (23, CB), Marcel Sobottka (19, DM), Leroy Sané (18, AM) und Marvin Friedrich (18, CB).

If that move (André Hahn) goes through (it's not confirmed yet), then M'gladbach will have added quite some good players for the next season already!

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Schalke are leading 2:0 against Hertha BSC with goals by Chinedu Obasi and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar in the 53nd minute.
To my surprise I noticed that Kaan Ayhan is playing after all, so his injury wasn't as bad as originally reported.
