Re: The Bundesliga Thread
MAtS is more the Kahn type and Leno is more the Lehmann type. Consequently, I like MAtS better ^^

TS coming to Eintracht
Considerably softens to blow of Veh's departure. Always wondered if Schaff would continue managing after Werder especially after his jaded comments on post-leave. Eintracht has a need for a long term thinktank and there's no better in BuLi at the moment than this man.
Whole bevy of the e.V waiting to be exploited and Schaff has a talented hand for that.

A shame because SGE are losing all their top players this summer, after Rode and Schwegler, captain Sebastian Jung has secured a transfer to Wolfsburg.

I always expected us to instantly lose Rode and Jung, they were too good, and too young, for us to keep. I was just hoping they'd be expensive, which they sadly weren't.
Schwegler leaving really rubbed me the wrong way... That, I did not see coming. At least we're keeping Meier. Let's hope Schaaf brings Hunt to the SGE.

I thought Didi was running a 5 year project in Zenit? Did he not leave on sour terms from HSV in 2009?
Will it be Sportint Director or GM like last time?
Thoughts on his re-appointment?

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
HSV+ means that the pro football department gets separated from the general sports club, thus opening the possibility of getting investors in (up to a max of 25% of the shares, IIRC).

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Actually yea his exit was because of some tensions with Bernd Hoffmann, the chairman of the board back then. At the time he was tired of the board members trying to argue over his choice of players and so on. He was always popular with the fans though, since he basically build up the good team/standing we had from 2006 onwards. Pretty much after he left we completely imploded and it became obvious to everyone that he was the only reason these tools in the board didn't mess up things earlier. So pretty much everyone is over the moon that he is coming back, if Zenit lets him out of his contract without troubles. He will be the new chairman/GM of the executive board in the now created HSV stock corporation, which was the objective of the initiative HSV+.
That the whole thing went through is the biggest success though, the only alternative would have been the destruction of the club. Rarely have I been more proud to be a HSV fan since 10.000 people took the time on a hot sunday to sit there for hours and hours just to make sure that we reach the necessary 75%. It turned out to be 86% and that just shows that everyone has understood what is at stake after last season. There were many people who tried to sabotage the voting by making an unreal amount of applications or speaker request just to demoralise voters.
This new version of the club will pretty much get everyone fired except Slomka of course. All these clowns who tried to hold on to their positions for years and have not a single idea about how to run a professional football club with this reach - finally gone. The new board of directors will only consist of 6 people, Bernd Bönte (the manager of the Klitschkos), former pros/coaches Thomas von Heesen and Peter Nogly, as well as succesful investment/real estate managers who will bring in the business knowledge.
49% of the club are technically up for sale now and with our first league future secure the shares will also feature a propper price. Hamburg as a city and HSV has a club will attract quite a bigshot corporations/individuals interested in an investment. The first one will be Kühne, billionaire owner of Kühne&Nagel, who already helped out financially in the previous years. He will kick off the financing with 25 mill which should help us get some decent fresh faces this summer. It shouldn't be forgotten that HSV has debts of 100 mill, so a lot will be used on reducing that as well.
Things won't change from one day to the other but this was the right step into a future where this club can finally fetch the huge potential it has. Good ol' Uli Hoeness wasn't so wrong just a while ago when he said that the only other german club with the potential to be a global player like bayern is HSV.

Toffer, much gratitude for this fantastic and very informative post, to which has gotten me to learn things I did not know and sought to question.
HSV even in its darkest days has managed to bring new light to a club still living on its previous embers of glory. Yet facets such as these bring monumental hope, the relegation battle possibly a blessing to re-awake the club and fans on what is the worst that can happen. Hopefully next year there will be a plan with clarity under Slomka as Didi's return will certainly provide that.
Thanks again.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
no worries mate!
We bougt Zoltan Stieber today for a cool 1,2 mill - good player that I always wanted at HSV since his days in Aachen. No idea why he never made it at Mainz but he had a killer season again with Fürth and with his pace he suits Slomkas style.
And another thing: What the hell is Leverkusen thinking with Calhanoglu. They are "willing to pay an appropriate price for the player"? 13 mill????? For one of the most sought after talents (also voted into the u21 team of the season on lol.com) with a contract until 2018? These guys are delusional, that's plainly insulting. For anything under 23 mill I wouldn't even pick up the phone. Nothing needs to be said about the character of the kid and his agent, who is prolly the most unprofessional pos i've seen in a while. He even makes Lewandowski's agents look highly ethical and reasonable. Calhanoglu is obviously not the sharpest tool in the shed, but he'll learn soon enough.
They'll keep him, if he wants to ruin his career and act up then so be it. He doesn't earn enough to hurt HSV and they will use him as an example to show that things are changing now. The most fitting statement from van Heesen today: "If he compares himself to Messi and Ronaldo, then 13 mill surely won't be enough. You would need minimum half of their transfer fee so we'll be at 40 mill. For that we could buy a good alternative. That's all there is to say."

So what was the deal with Tuchel leaving Mainz and still being under contract?
