Newcastle are a sad sight right now. Then again, what would you play for in their situation? Pride, yes, but perhaps Pardew hasn't managed to get that message across to the players. I mean, Newcastle fans must be crestfallen, their team has failed to score in 7 of their last 8 games, but I'm not sure if their players care about it...

It's not that simple really, its a major factor but the whole thing stinks....
As far as Pardew and the upper management are concerned the job is done by pretty much escaping relegation.
The club show no ambition from the top so its not surprise that the players are demotivated.
Not to mention Pardew is a f*cking idiot naturally, i could go into more detail but i really can't be arsed.
I don't even bother caring about it any more though as nothing will ever change until the cancer that is Mike Ashley is systematically removed from the bleeding heart of the football club.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V7
I am admittedly very hard on Sherwood as a manager, but I have to swallow my pride and say that Sherwood is starting to show that he can develop the intricacies needed to be a good manager. It doesn't hurt that under Sherwood we've won 23 out of a possible 30 points and have the best away record in the EPL.
However, my main complaint has been his failure to game plan past the starting XI and his failure to effectively change the game through his bench. While I still think he can improve on these aspects of his management style it doesn't hurt that he is showing the same tactical curiosity which made AVB excel last season.
Since he took over as manager we've run a 4/4/2, 4/3/1/1, 4/5/1, and a 4/3/3. This was the second time we've run the 4/3/3, and once it again it provided our most comprehensive performance.
While we still aren't without our patented "Spurs" moments, I actually think we can still make the top 4, but that will depend largely on a few things:
1. How we fair in March when we play Chelsea (away), Arsenal (home), and Liverpool (away) almost successively;
2. Squad health (we just lost Chiriches for 6 weeks ).
In the end though let's be honest on why I'm really willing to give Sherwood a second chance, he benched Michael "Captain Calamity" Dawson

OptaJoeVerified account @OptaJoe ·6h 4 - Luis Suarez has scored only four of Liverpool's last 24 Premier League goals. Evolution.
(He's changed his role in the team before people say he's on the decline etc.)

Sturridge came back from injury so Suarez has started dropping a little deeper to collect and create. It's led to Sterling's impressive showings, Coutinho's regaining form and Sturridge scoring in 7 straight, so I don't think anyone can criticize.
(And before you react based on our recent history, this is me agreeing with you 100% )

Sturridge has scored in 8 games straight.

7 straight PL games (which is probably what he meant), but 8 straight with the cup match (which is probably what you mean).
So you're both right! Yay!

I saw the stat earlier tonight so was just regurgitating it. I'm sure 7 straight league games is what it originally was, but I'm all for the correction considering it makes Danny look even better

You'll probably lose them all but not to worry, you'll win like the other 8/9 games remaining 1-0.

Which is now a Liverpool record (first player to score in 7 consecutive games).

Now here is a wild speculation, Liverpool can actually win the league. Just a week ago the fans were okay to settle for 4th spot.
